7am-1pm and on a Sunday! What to do?

We're on Voyager in February and scheduled to dock in Nassau at 7:00 a.m. and leave at 1 p.m. on a Sunday. Any suggestions for what to do in that short period of time? This is our first cruise, I'm traveling with DH, DD (13) and DS (9). Never been to the Bahamas and open to suggestions!

Thanks,

Sandy

Well, I've only been once and many years ago at that, but I'm in a similar situation. I'm there 8 AM-2 PM this coming Sunday (woo hoo !) and my plan is to get off the boat ASAP and catch a cab to Atlantis. Not buying a day pass or tickets to The Dig - figure I'll just check the joint out, maybe play a couple of tables - see what there is to see. I figure on spending maybe 90 mins here, then grabbing a taxi to Cabbage Beach, which is only a few minutes away, and spending a couple hours there swimming/snorkeling. Taking off around noonish-12:30 to head back towards the dock, giving me enough time to stop off at Senor Frogs and have a drink or two on the water with a view of the boats before boarding around 1:30.

I will be in Nassau the end of Sept from early morning til midnight.

From what I have seen on RCCL's web site most ship excursions are either a morning session (starts around 9ish) and an afternoon session (starts areound 1).

Being there 7am-1pm you should be able to get into a morning excursion.

You might look into going on an excursion through your ship so that it wont start til you get there and the ship wont leave til you get back. But I suspect with the time span you have you shouldn't have too big of a problem. Just fipp up the extra time with walking around nassau, the straw market, senior frogs, or perhaps a quick trip to one of the beaches.

You can do the Nassau walking tour which takes about 1.5-2 hours and see all of the historical sites in the town. (if you look in a thead below, you will see it detailed with pictures). You can go to Cable or Cabbage beach by taxi, $5/person. You can go to Atlantis by taxi or water taxi and walk around the casino and some of the grounds. You can visit Ardastra Zoo and see the animals (I think they are open sunday....you can check their website for sure). It all depends on what your family likes to do for fun.

Thanks all, these are great suggestions. I'm pretty sure the beach will be popular with the family. I would love to do the walking tour but when I suggest taking a walk around here, I just get the look from the rest of them!:(

What's the best beach to visit? And how would you get there?

Thanks again,

Sandy
