hollyanna Posted August 31, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2006 :) I have just found out about the proposed refit of Oriana in November and sounds fabulous. She will be put into dry dock in Bremerhaven in November for a multi-million pound refurb including: Every cabin will get new carpets, new duvets, new bed runners (think they mean vallances?) new curtains in one of four EXCITING new modern colour schemes. The Curzon room (currentlyl ovely lounge are on deck D) will become a fine dining restaurant and the adjoining Tiffany lounge will be transformed for stylish pre-dinner drinks, changing soft furnishings and lights with piano music to boot!! The kids area(peter Pan's and Decibel's) will have a 250,000 pound refurb including new soft furnishings etc and play stations etc, and the Lord's Tavern Bar will be extended to provide additional seating with plasma screen TV and brand new entertainment facilites. The slot machines in the Lord's Tavern will be moved to Monte Carlo boutique (presumably into the room seperate from casino with all the other slot machines!) and there will be an overhaul in the shopping area! I have to say, it is ready for this and I think it will be wonderful, especially the fine dining restaurant as where it currently is (where buffet is but at night) it is looking a bit tatty and the bedrooms are about ready, so fantastic news! The shops could do to be brought up to scratch with other ships as currently a bit non-descript. Still love her though!Hollyanna
Have a Good Trip Posted September 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks Hollyanna for the news. We haven't been on Oriana yet but would like to some time in the future. It's hard to believe she is 10 years old already. I have the book about her creation "Oriana: From Dream to Reality" (published 1995) and look at it quite regularly.
