MauiLvrs Posted September 4, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2006 We didn't dive stingray city when we were there either. It was just too far out of the way and took too much time. We opted to do a 2 tank dive that left right from the tender pier instead. We had seen stingrays other places and decided it wasn't worth the going to the circus at stingray city. http://www.carnival.com/ShoreExcursionsSearchResults.aspx?region=CW&portcode=CAY&portname=Grand+Cayman%2c+Cayman+Islands There are a number of options: Reef & Wreck Snorkel Tour You’ll appreciate the opportunity to snorkel and see the marvels of the underwater world whether you are a beginner or advanced snorkeler. On this excursion you will: Be introduced to a beautiful coral reef teeming with marine life. Take part in the fish-feeding program, snorkel “Cali”, a sunken shipwreck. Note: Snorkel equipment is provided. Grand Cayman Snorkel Tour Discover why Grand Cayman is famous for its spectacular array of marine life and coral formations. You will have to climb down a ladder from the dive center's pier to enter the water. Aqua Boat & Snorkel Adventure Prepare for excitement as you ride your own two-person, speedy, 12-foot inflatable motorboat to your exhilarating snorkel excursion. Stop at Smith’s Cove, a delightful little bay with an almost secret beach. Swim, snorkel or just relax on the beach. vmom Posted September 12, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2006 Do the 3 stop snorkel with Capt. Bryan's. He has both a 2 stop snorkel and a 3 stop snorkel. Hardly any difference in price. If you go on the 3 stop snorkel, the boat stops at 2 snorkel areas and sting ray city. Just stay on the boat at Sting ray city and watch. The other 2 stops include coral gardens and the barrier reef if I remember correctly.
scubaran Posted September 12, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2006 Hi, Is there excursions available that does not include Stingrays? Thank you Yes, any land excursion. :) Seriously, stingrays are wild animals in the ocean. No snorkel trip can guarantee you won't see a shark, stingray, turtle, or any particular animal. Though the changes are slim but if you're lucky you'll see a shark, stingray, turtle and other animals. I've seen all, several times, and still have all my limbs and charish the unique experiences and wonder of the ocean. :D Love to dive in the ocean, Randall P.S. don't let one experience influence your decisions. I just heard that the mid-west city I'm visiting for work has had 153 murders this year but don't see global news telling people to stay away.
