martymonty Posted September 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Hi I am travelling with a friend and two of my daughters to the Bahamas on the Carnival Celebration this December. Taking my kids as a 21st birthday gift and I am wondering what things we should defenitely do while in Freeport and Nassau. I want to make sure they get to do the best of the best while we are there and that we don't miss something we will hear about later. Any suggestions?? Stephanie :)
walkswife Posted September 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2006 In Freeport my daughter and I did the Petersen Caye Kayak and Snorkel and thought it was awesome..... my DH and other daughter did the Dolphin Encounter which they liked, but since then daughter has done a dolphin swim and enjoyed that much more.... In Nassau we did the Stingray excursion and it was OK..... when we got back we took a taxi over to the Atlantis and checked out the aquariums... that was really cool.... on the way back we looked for a taxi and got a limo for the same price going back to the ship... the girls were highly impressed:D
racer_chick79 Posted September 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Freeport - We did the Jeep Tour where you get to drive a jeep around, learn about stuff, go to a cool cave, and then a secluded beach to eat lunch and swim a tad. Nassau - Took the tour of Atlantis and the aquarium. It was fun because you get to learn a ton, and you can go through the aquarium as many times as you want. You can walk around a lot of Atlantis too. We also played a bit in the casinos and won quite a lot of money off $5. :D
cruiseblue Posted September 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2006 If anyone is looking something to do, I highly recommend doing the Snorkel Tour with Stuart Cove Tours in the afternoon, which includes two beautiful reefs (Hollywood Reef & Elvis or King of Reef), finally third stop is awesome shark observing and feeding. The reefs are really good, more than I ever expected in Nassau. YOu will see lots of fish. The shark feeding was exhilrating!! They let in the water for about 10 minutes with the sharks, don;t worry they are swimming at the bottom of the sea while you are observing from the top. Then the sharks did get curious and swimmed up the top and nosing around the snorkelers but no close calls or anything, they are more curious. After everyone back on the boat, the guys started the feeding. WOW, Feeding Frenzy ensures. Awesome sight. A must do on my list. If you are bolder than I am, do the Shark Dive tour. No certification is required with Stuart Cove. Click on this link below and then click on Nassau-BH to see the shark feeding frenzy: enjoy!!:D http://www.flickr.com/photos/ndfeeji/sets/
GoPennState Posted September 25, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2006 In Nassau, you MUST see the Queens Staircase. Also, while in the area, go to tthe top of the water tower. It overlooks the Fort, and you can get a pretty good view of the area. Just look out for the one side of the tower....you look into someones backyard where she is usually hanging out her laundry! PS. The "Elevator is quite old and rickety!

The "Elevator is quite old and rickety! I second the Queen's Staircase. My Wife and I loved it. The watertower was closed for repairs when we were in Nassau on Sept. 12th. Hopefully it will be re-opened by the time you arrive. I was really looking forward to paying my $0.50 to travel up for a view of the entire island. (you still get a great view from Fort Fincastle below the watertower.) Bill
