Where to stay near Port in Hawaii?

Why don't you try logging on to http://www.biddingfortravel.com and see what folks are getting for the period that you'll be in Hawaii?? Most of the hotels are somewhere near Waikiki Beach and that's only about a 15-20 minute taxi ride from the pier. If you see something that looks good to you, then you can give priceline a try. I've had good luck doing this in other cities and it should be just as good in Honolulu. Give it a shot. ;)

Most of the 'good' hotels AND all the 'action' is in Wakaiki and that is about 8 milkes away from the port. There really isn't anything by the port, to want to stay there. You can take a cab to the port from Wakaiki or rent a car, bring it back the day you are to sail, and they will shuttle you to the pier.

As for 'good' hotels, that depends on what you want to spend and how close to the beach you want to be.

You got some good info. Not anything near the port at all! There are gobs of hotels in Waikiki in all sorts of price ranges. Hilton Hawaiian Village is my personal favorite down there! Sheraton has several with are nice, Outrigger is lovely, Marriott (which is the hotel NCL uses if you book any pre- or post-cruise stays with them) is great.

We just stayed at the waikiki outrigger on the beach after our cruise. We loved it. The location was so central and the staff was so accomadating > It also has Dukes canoe cluB right in it which was fun for a beachside lunch and dinner and drinks at night. Loved being out on the beach and enjoyed the sound of the surf at night.

They also extended us a late check out and gave us a courtesy room for a half an hour at about 7pm so we were able to shower from the beach before heading out to the airport for a red eye flight.
