baileybaby Posted September 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2006 I was wondering if you charter a boat if you are still suppose to tip? We will be paying $350 for 3.5 hours. It seems like $100 per hour is enough but we don't want to be rude. What do you think? :)
MamaParrotHead Posted September 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2006 I'd say it depends on if your captain/crew is the owner of the boat. If it is, then I'd say no further tipping is necessary. If it's an employee, and s/he gives good service, then I'd say that a tip may be in order. HTH! Drink-in-Hand/Toes-in-Sand Posted September 16, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2006 I'd also think it would depend upon the level of service received. If your outing was just so-so then no gratuity would be necessary. But if you were fawned over and the crew made a fuss to get you anything and everything you needed or wanted--then by all means show them the love! I've had both experiences and believe me, great service is always rewarded. It chaps me to no end when you feel like needing to escape from a terrible experience and nearly running over the fellow with his hand out for a tip. :( But they don't "get it" and they never will! I hope you have a wonderful excursion, baileybaby! The kind that leaves you light in the pockets... :D
