bleuseas Posted September 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2006 We weill be flying into HNL the day before embarkation. We wanted to see Pearl Harbor the following morning before boarding the ship. We're trying to decide if we should rent a car for a 24 hour period ($31 + hotel parking fee) to get us from the airport to the hotel and back and forth from Pearl Harbor the next day -or- if we should just take a taxi from the airport to the Outrigger Waikiki and then take the bus to Pearl Harbor and a taxi back to the hotel, get our luggage and then back to the pier. -or- just taxis all the way around, which looks to be pricier Any suggestions? Ju1es Posted September 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2006 When we were there we stayed in Waikiki and took the bus to Pearl Harbour. Although it was very cheap, it took a long time! I would recommend renting car.
Giantfan13 Posted September 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2006 I would also go the renting route. The bus may be cheaper, but not after you had to take taxis all around, and the bus will take close to 45min to an hour to get you to Pearl. Even if it's for a few hours, rent a Thrifty car, they have a location in downtown Waikiki, and they will shuttle you from the hotel to their location and then to the dock. A good deal all around. bleuseas Posted September 10, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted September 10, 2006 Thanks for the advice. The bus route did look like it would take a loooong time. Just wanted to confirm it. We were thinking of picking up the car at the airport and the dropping it off in Waikiki before boarding the ship. It would probably be better than taking it all the way back to the airport. Is the Thrifty location in Waikiki located in a hotel or is it by itself? I didn't know they would pick you up and shuttle you from your hotel and to the ship. Even better if we decide not to do the overnight rental.
Giantfan13 Posted September 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2006 It is located in a sort of parking garage, on Seaside Ave. It is really difficult to see from the street, You really have to know it is there. Kind of hidden away.
