TourneyKit Posted September 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2006 Does anyone know how much a carton of cigarettes sells for in St. Thomas? And is there any reason I couldn't buy eight or ten and mail them home to the States? Would offset a fair piece of my trip if they are reasonable:)
Betsy's Mom Posted September 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2006 Cigarettes are about $20 a carton, depending on where you buy them. There is a store in Port of Call Mall, sort of an extension to Havensight, within walking distnce of the ships that has good prices. Customs allows 10 cartons to go out duty free. You cannot mail them. Do not try it. Packages going by Postal Service are scanned somehow and cigarettes are removed. This is true. Every so often there is a bit in the daily paper that a cigarette burning is to occur. You would be amazed how many cartons they confiscate! If you live on the Island (we do) you can take the slip Customs puts in the package and go claim them. Of course then you face the fact you have lied on your Customs slip:mad: and have to solve that problem! B.
m steve Posted September 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2006 We found them for about $15 last year at both stores close to the pier. Us customs allows 5 cartons pp. but if you but some to smoke onboard that is ok. The stores don't limit you. Not every brand is available and some have limited sizes such as noy having 100's avail in all configerations.

CharBill Posted September 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2006 They had a coupon at tobacco discounters. It's right by the dock in St. Thomas. Buy nine cartons get one free. We were just there last Wednesday 9/6. Marlboro were 17.95 and the kind like Doral were 8.99. Pall Mall were 9.95. Those are the only brands I know the prices of. It states everyone can purchase up to 5 cartons. Not sure of the truth of that though since the ship was telling all they were only allowed 1 carton per person. So if you buy nine you will get one free. Everyone likes free..:) :) :) Does anyone know how much a carton of cigarettes sells for in St. Thomas?
