zydecocruiser Posted September 10, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 10, 2006 FYI... Just off the Valor and they had blocked access to some of the sites where you can upload pictures - and mentioned nothing about it in the TOS. Something else different was that the minutes were interchangeable between a laptop and the terminals in the Internet cafe. You may want to ask before you plunk down money on an Internet access package. I was ok once I figured a way around it...
kstwo728 Posted September 10, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 10, 2006 The Pride came in around 6:33am this morning Hubby and I woke up early on Sunday morning 7/30 to sit on our balcony and watch the Pride come in!! I was so excited when I saw that funnel I jumped up from my chair and yelled "there it is!!! there it is!!" I'm sure the people in the room below us did not appreciate my excitement at 6am!!!! So excited to watch this thread all week. It rainy and nasty here in KC!

Wennfred Posted September 11, 2006 Author #25 Share Posted September 11, 2006 Ok we are finally onboard this beautiful ship, she looks even better from the last time we sailed on her. We were able to board around noon time, first the Wedding party then the Special assistance people like people in wheel chairs etc. then us VIP. Boarding went pretty easy except for the Xray Machine area where you pretty much has to strip down, Just kidding, They took our sissors from us and then returned them saying they were ok. We went right to our cabin, 4241 which faces extreme aft, which is the back of the ship, its a balcony. The cabin seems small for an 8c and the balcony is also TINY. I took pictures and will post them when I get back to save up these minutes. Once we dropped off our Carry-on we went to see our concierge at Carnival Vacation Club. The original guy Gary Williams is now on the Miracle, So now we have a new director. There were able to book our Supper Club for Tuesday night for us and also Wendys Formal Updo's for both formal nights, we also got the 25% off even on a sea day which is good. We went to the dining room, got table 140 and its way back but its a nice table that sits 6 since we are sitting with Jan and her dad, they are both Cruise Critic Members. Our table is hidden away back around the port side, kinda private, I like it because there will be less traffic while eating. Wendy prefers the Center tables because she like to see all of the hoopla that goes on with the waiter staff and dancing and singing etc. I just want to eat lol. >>>LEAVE FRED ALONE<<< he just wants to eat. Once we were done checking out our table we headed to the Internet Cafe, I got the 100 minute plan for 55.00 plus if you sign up now you get 10 min. more free, and since I got my Carnival Vacation Club coupon book there is an addtional 5 minutes free there too. So 15 minutes free, thats what it took me to figure this out LOL. We headed over to the Pursers office and Wendy was able to set Shayla Sail & Sign account separate from ours, she wanted to deposit her own cash into her account. That was cool with me. Makes things alot easiers at the end. I have been taking pictures around the ship as well as the Cabin and Balcony. Lido deck was great too. They now have Minute Steak Sandwich on the Menu at the Grille. Wendy and Shayla are knocked out in the cabin taking a nap. Tonights show will be the Showgirls Show opener and also Stanley Ullman, a funny guy, the show starts at 7pm for us late seaters. I think that Stanley Ullman lives on this ship and never leaves lol. Shops and Casino are still closed while in port. I will post more about the Weather tomorrow while out at Sea, also info on Water Slide, ethnic cuisines, Tea Times Buckets of beer prices and Cigarettes as we go. Ok if I forgot something I will bring it up later. Now time to answer some questions. AZCAMM, Yes we booked a balcony 4241, facing the rear of the ship. I will be posting pictures of this cabin when I return. Bubbles1209, Im drinking a Rumrunner now as we speak, read your post over in the Internet Cafe so I headed back to the Main lobby bar and order one, its pretty good !!!, I will try the Roulette tonight, first time for everything. As far as going to the back of the ship LOL, We are in the back of the ship, I will take pictures of the ocean and the wake we leave behind. SooCruise, The Sunset Pirate Party Boat excursion is 89.00 pp and its 4.5 hours long, departs are 4:15pm Will have info on the Chocolate buffet probably on Saturday. Cruise-a-lot, I called Supper Club, they will not open on the First night UNLESS, they have 10 or more people booking for the first night. So far they have none so no Supper Club tonight. They will be open on the last night for sure, Saturday. We booked for Tuesday Night at 6:30pm because its French night in the Dinning room and we dont really care for that night. VentureMan, They still have Earily Check in at the Queen from the hours of 9am - 11am, at 11:01am they close the doors. NeptunesGoddess, Drink of the day is Fun Ship Special, someone told me what it had in it but it was alot of stuff Famers Wife, Agustin is playing at the Piano Bar, Thats what the Capers say, we will make sure tonight. First-timecruiser, Lido Deck was serving up some good Asian food, fried rice, noodles and spicy beef and chicken something, it was pretty good. Its 4pm and we are about to head to our Muster Stations for the LifeBoat drill, see ya in a few. We returned from the Life Boat drill, it only lasted 20 minutes, pretty hot out here in Long Beach today, so we were glad it was over. We returned to our cabin to return our Life Jackets and then headed up to Lido for the Sail away and Cruise Critic Roll Call group meet. After the meet we took Shayla to the Gym but by then Shayla was like in La La land as she had one Blue Margarita Drink that pretty much knocked her on her butt. after the walk to the Gym we made it back to the Cabin. Luggage arrived, its 5:35pm, if we had Earily seating we could make it with no problems. We have Late Seating so we have time to un-pack now and relax. Took some cool pictures from the Balcony and you can see the white water that the Props kick up, looks so cool, also when you open the balcony doors you can here this soothing sound of the water as ship sails by, its actually loud out there but when the doors are closed you can not hear anything. Pretty Amazing. Fred
