candigirl41 Posted September 14, 2006 #126 Share Posted September 14, 2006 That is where they served the food. It was very good, my DD ate my rice. I couldn't bear to look at it as it was very hot down there. Once I was up on deck I was okay. The fresh air really helped. I also wear seasick patches for the cruise, so I am sure this helped me from getting violently ill. I have been on a cruise to Mexico during a hurricane and know how bad it can get. After I felt better I even had another couple of drinks and danced. I just think the closed in area got to me. If you have further questions just let me know. candigirl41 Posted September 14, 2006 #127 Share Posted September 14, 2006 The 7A's are above lifeboats. It wasn't very obstructed. If you are looking straight out you don't really notice. I paid for an inside and got a 7A so I was happy. Candi
SmooCruise Posted September 14, 2006 #128 Share Posted September 14, 2006 So if me or hubby feels ill will they let us go up? And this one is a little embarrassing....I am a plus-sized woman....I hear the stairs going down and up are really steep. But they are doable right? I'm praying for decent weather and for hubby (or me) to not get ill so we can enjoy everything this tour has to offer. I'm going to take some Bonine and ginger and then Margaritas! That's my plan of attack! *LOL*
candigirl41 Posted September 14, 2006 #129 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Ginger worked very well for my DD on our last cruise. We had a very rocky day and she took these and felt better right away. I don't think you will have any problem with the stairs. I am not skinny by any means and there were people bigger than me. I think you will be fine. Just make sure your DH takes the ginger so as not to get ill. I think the claustrophobia is what got to me. Candi
sirlostalot Posted September 14, 2006 #130 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Fred, the storm is not expected to hit Cabo till 5am Sunday. It is southwest of PV as of today. You should be ok unless it picks up speed. Forcast to head inland after Cabo, so next weeks cruise should not be affected, unless there is alot of damage:(
tickles Posted September 14, 2006 #131 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Hi Fred, Thanks for taking your time to keep us all informed. We are sailing on the Pride in November and just got our room assignments. Our friends were upgraded from an outside to a 7a balcony on the upper deck. If you are able to see, does the 7a rooms look down onto the lifeboats. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your cruise!!! What date in November are you cruising? We are on the November 26 and I just wanted to know because you said you already got your docs.
SmooCruise Posted September 14, 2006 #132 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Thanks for all your help Candi. I have never had claustrophobia problems so I'm not worried about that. I will take the ginger, bonine and margaritas and have a great time! Watch for my review when I get back. Ahhhhrrr mateys! Smoo's a goin' pirating! Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum....errrr make that tequila! :D
bonstersd Posted September 14, 2006 #133 Share Posted September 14, 2006 I wonder if TS Lane will shorten the Pride's stay in Cabo any...it is just on its tail and I know the center of the TS (now advised as a hurricane watch and likely to become a hurricane) is far enough south, I wonder if the Pride will try to get a jump on it. (I know I would!) Assuming Lane goes inland east and not west, the September 24 cruisers should not have any problems heading south.

bonstersd Posted September 14, 2006 #135 Share Posted September 14, 2006 What about the Sept. 17th cruisers??? Like me! Oops! I meant the Sept 17th cruisers, not the Sept. 24th cruisers (my sis is taking a cruise on Sept 23, so I just confunsed my dates). I still have my fingers crossed for smooth waters and no missed ports for you Sept. 17 cruisers!

wavecruiser Posted September 15, 2006 #138 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Totally loving this thread - thanks Fred! I think you mentioned something about tea time on monday, that you missed. Did you happen to attend the tea time on tuesday (if there was one?) Hoping Lane doesn't hit both us Sept. 17 and 24 cruisers!
ladycaveat Posted September 15, 2006 #139 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Fred . . . love "sailing with you" . . . this is such a "hoot" . . . can't believe that I'll be on the Pride in January (I mean, I just got back from my Caribbean Cruise on the Triumph last weekend). I know you said you wouldn't be joining Wendy on Randi's Happy Horses but please tell me all about it. My son and I have reservations and would really like to know what it was like. We're going whale watching on a zodiac in Cabo and also need suggestions for what to do in PV (my son's doing the Canopy zip line thingy but I'm not). Love your posts!!!!!!!!! NeptunesGoddess Posted September 15, 2006 #142 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Let me know if anyone needs a specific Picture of something. This is so funny you asked this, Fred, because as soon as I was done reading all the new posts in this thread, I had planned on making a request for a photo. I have only been on the Inspiration, a Fantasy Class ship, that has their promenade deck high up with large windows and places to sit along them and then the casino and night clubs along the other side. I have noticed that, in order to make more cabins with balconies on the Spirit Class ships, the Promenade deck has been moved to a lower part of the ship. I am really curious how that deck looks as you walk down it. I can only find pictures of the night clubs, casino..etc...but never any pictures of the actual walking areas of this deck. Do you think you could snap a few? Perhaps a bird's eye view as you mosey (or promenade) along the deck? I would really like that if you could. Smoocruise, that would be so great if you could check for Merits next week. Thanks so much for offering. By the way, you will be sailing during International talk like a pirate day (sept. 19th). Hehe...so be sure you utter a few "Arrrrrrrrgh Mateys" and "Avasts" and "Ahoys" on Tuesday. hehe. LadyCaveat, I am getting so excited for January 7th I can hardly stand it. Have you booked all your excursions? I think we are only going to do one and just be on our own the rest of the time. Still debating that. :)

Wennfred Posted September 15, 2006 Author #148 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Pride Day 5, Mazatlan Cont. Camp Carnival Side note: I asked a couple on Lido deck that has a young boy, if he was in Camp Carnival, they told me yes and that he was having a great time, The dad said that he was so thrilled to see all of the events they had for his son. The Dad also told me that he read alot of info on Cruise Critic prior to booking this cruise, he said that the reviews helped him and his wife alot. His kid is in the 6 - 8 years age group and currently he wants to finish up his lunch and head back to meet up with his new friends at Camp Carnival. Mom and Dad pulled him for Lunch because at Camp Carnival they give them Pizza and hotdogs, and no Veggies, so now at least he is getting a well rounded meal with his parents. I mentioned that I hardly saw younger kids onboard he told me they were all in Camp Carnival. On this Cruise I hardly notice the younger kids, I saw more teens on here but thats it. Canasta Card Game Couple: Every day I see this older couple playing cards in the same spot, Deck 3 starboard between the Photo shop and the Smokers lounge aft, they never leave the ship. So I ran down to the Pursers desk and got them 2 new decks of Carnival Playing Cards, they really loved them and I told them they can go down and get some more for free. This couple lives in Vegas and has like a TON of Grandkids. Their last reunion was 200 onboard. This time they are spending a quiet romantic time alone. Internet Cafe: Today Thursday from the hours of 4pm to 6pm, they call it Happy Hour. If you log on between those hours you can get 50% off. That would be the best time to check your email since that takes up alot of time. Laundry Promotion: Today Thursday morning in Mazatlan and Friday while in Cabo, $15.00 per bag. Swimsuits and undergarments washed and folded the same day. Onboard Movies: End Game, Like Mike 2 and The Chronicles of Narnia. Drink Special: Riviera Delight, it has Melon Liquior, Vodka, Sweet & Sour mix, White rum, Pineapple Juice and Amaretto. Another one is Pacific Delight, they are $6.25 each. Wendy and Shayla returned and they had a blast with Randys Happy Horses. Wendys Horse Paloma wouldn't slow down and had to switch horses at mid way. We had JeRome last night for the Comedy act, this is the Black guy that does the Michael Jackson act. Very funny guy. The first guy was a new act that bombed pretty bad. Even the Audio People couldn't get his Music right and he had to just talk yell from the stage. He was like a Juggler/Comedian or something. Pretty bad act. Not sure if he will ever return. I will post his name later. Headed to bed after the show at 11:30pm, the Midnight show was Rated R. "No Adult Comedy show" just the Cruise Director and staff having fun on Stage, they called it The Improv. I wasn't going to waste my time with this one so I went to the Casino and I deposited 30.00 before heading to bed. Fred
Wennfred Posted September 15, 2006 Author #149 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Pride, DAY 6, Port day, Cabo Message from the Captain at 0730 hours: Attention on Deck! Attention on Deck! This is the Captain speaking from the Bridge, As you saw yesterday on the news there is a Major Storm heading to Cabo, This Storm is around 290 miles south of us and heading our way. Due to the Safety of all passengers we have cut our stay in Cabo. Departing time is 1pm not 4pm. The day looks nice out this morning but this will soon change fast. Last Tender departs Cabo at 12:30pm. The Captain repeated this twice at 7:30am. The Second time he mentioned that this storm could be changing into Hurricane Lane. We anchored at 7:30am this morning. Weather Conditions look nice at the moment with scattered Clouds out in the distance, alittle over cast due to the morning time. Now from the Cruise Director: All excursions leaving at or after 10am are now cancelled. There will be an automatic refund for these Excursions. It is 9:45am as Im writing this, I can tell that alot of people remains onboard. Wendy and I went to Lido to get some Breakfast. I asked a server here on Lido about next week, he told me chances are the next cruise will be heading up to Vancouver Canada. But he doesnt know its all up to the Captain. I will keep you posted if the Weather does turn sour. Fred
