MandyGirl Posted September 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2006 We will be cruising NCL and have an overnight stop in Maui. However, a family member has offered their timeshare stay for our precruise lodging and the choices are Molokai or Maui. We'll take a flight back to HNL two days before the cruise (get to see that area), but are torn on which island to stay on for our four nights pre-cruise (prior to our two nights in HNL). We know Maui has lots to see and do, and hubby has visited there before. We also know Molokai is more laid back, and we are curious if it is similar to St John, USVI (our favorite vacation place). We are content just relaxing on beaches. Hubby and I are happy with pure laid-back Hawaii, beaches, scenery. We also realize we will be stopping in Maui but can't "see it all" then. It will be us and our almost-ten-month-old daughter. Joining us will possibly be both sets of our parents, none of whom have been to Hawaii before. Any suggestions for pre-cruise stay? Maui or Molokai? Thanks so much! :D PS - Our daughter is less than a week old but my parents think her first word will be "cruise".
CruisinMK Posted September 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2006 Um, molokai is pretty unusual opportunity? You sure that's the island? Personally I'd go for that to try something few have or will. Anyway you have two days on Maui already.
lambs2 Posted September 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2006 If I had that opportunity I would DEFINITELY pick Molokai! Did you know that Molokai was the island where the people with leprosy in Hawaii were sent for many years? I think the history there is fascinating. Did you ever read Michener's "Hawaii"? Molokai is also supposed to be a gorgeous island with beautiful beaches that very few ever get to visit! There would be much to see and do there as well, and you still have two days to see Maui! Spikesgirl Posted September 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2006 Molokai no ka oi. It will give you a more Old Hawaii feel than any of the other islands. It is peaceful, restful and really beautiful. It would be a great start to your stay in the islands. Charlie
