Bringing wine on ship

I thought I had read elsewhere on the boards that you could bring wine on board and drink it in your cabin or pay a corkage fee in the dining room. But we just got our final documentation and in the 'Terms and Conditions' it says "all liquor purchased ashore must remain in bond until disembarkation".

We were hoping to buy some local wine and have a drink in our room before dinner.

Anybody have any experience with this on Oceania?

In the rare case if somebody overindulged in their cabin and fell overboard. Then Captain Renault can say that he was "shocked, shocked to find that drinking was going on in the cabin," and that the passengers must have snuck the alcohol aboard without checking them with the purser, in violation of Oceania's stated policy.
