Slyfox16 Posted September 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2006 Hi: Does anyone have a suggestion for a walking tour of Old San JUan? Or is anyone doing their own tour on 9/27 that wouldn't mind having 2 more people joinging them and sharing the expense. Thanks, Amy Sclevin@aol.com
texancruzer Posted September 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2006 There are tours out there but why not do your own ??? Old San Juan is only 15 square blocks.... so very walkable even though it is hilly and streets are small cobble. Wear comfy tennis shoes :) Go to your local bookstore and buy Frommers "Caribbean Ports of Call" for $14.95 It has soooo much information about all the ports of the Caribbean -you won't just use it for San Juan !!! But - in the San Juan section there is a very detailed walking tour with where to begin....turn right walk 1 block etc etc.... it also has information about the places of interest on the tour. You can do this at your leisure - stopping WHEN YOU WANT TO and only really checking out in detail the sites that really interest you. Says it takes about 2 hours depending on how long you stop at each site. There is also one online but it is not as detailed as the one in the book. I have used this book now for my planning for 3 cruises. We stayed a few days precruise and walked all over old San Juan. The people are very friendly and most speak excellent English. Anyway - this is just a suggestion as an option to a "paid" tour.
