iKarenE Posted September 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2006 One of the excursions the Norwegian Dawn is offering is the "Tranquility Shores Beach Day" it's on Taino beach. Can anyone tell me anything about it and if it's a good place to go? The deal includes a barbecue lunch, beach activities, music, clubhouse, etc. Thanks. asoutherngal Posted September 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Unless things have changed in the last year, I would not go to Taino--nothing there but beach and a restaurant. Much cheaper ($5.00 per person) to get a cab and go to Lucaya--shopping, restaurants, beach, casino. I will be there in a couple of weeks for a day in port and plan to do this. Brenda33 Posted September 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2006 I understand Lucaya has free public beaches in front of the hotels and noone really checks if you use the pools......is all this true?

Karen, I was wondering about the Taino beach "Tranquility day" myself, so I did a search on it. I have found on trip Advisor, a lot of negatives, dirty, nothing there, etc. I am glad I found this because I almost paid $58 for each of us:eek: I think I am with Brenda on this, going to look for a beach for free:)
tigermaroon2 Posted September 29, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2006 I spent a week in Freeport and we went to Taino Beach to the local's fish fry one evening. The beach is very nice....I didn't notice it to be dirty at all. The restaurant/bar is a little wooden shack but it's quite quaint and the fish fry was EXCELLENT! "Tranquility" is the key word in this excursion...if you just want a relaxing day at a beach without the hustle and bustle this would be a great option. PJNJcruise5 Posted September 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2006 We are going to Freeport in Nov. I was wondering about the Tranquility shores also. We will be there with our kids and would like to spend a couple of hours on the beach. I would like one that has a restroom or at least a porta potty to change in. Are restrooms available on the public free beaches?, or would it be better to go to a motel beach. Are there any motels that offer day passes like in Nassau? last year we went (or almost went) to cabbage beach on Paradise Island only to discover no place to change. It was a dissapointment it looked like a nice beach, just wish we had known before that there were no restrooms.
chloe052004 Posted October 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2006 We were in Freeport in April and we did the Tranquility shores beach break. There was 7 of us in our group and we all had a great time there. The beach wasn't nasty, actually it was very nice with good food and music. There were a few vendors there so you could shop a little. We all thought it was well worth the price of $49pp.We hated to leave. We enjoyed it so much, we are going back in Dec. onboard the Celebration. We are definitly going back to Taino Beach!! chloe052004 Posted October 21, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2006 Nancy, I know they had jet ski's and a pedal boat of some kind, but I'm not sure how much they rented them for. Someone said the jet ski's were $60.00 for a half hour, but I really don't know. Linda
