CruiseAddict58 Posted September 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Has anyone ever stayed on Deck 6 of POH that can give me a review? There are only a small number of cabins on this deck and we have 3 oceanview cabin for a November cruise. Just hoping that with the POH staffing problems I've been reading about that this deck doesn't get overlooked.
CruiseAddict58 Posted September 19, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted September 19, 2006 This is the 3rd time I've asked this question on boards during the last 4 months. I've never gotten a reply....I'm beginning to wonder if these cabins really exist.
karen2cruz Posted September 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2006 I would imagine the big disadvantage is the evening traffic going to and coming from the theater. Also, the Medusa nightclub/lounge looks like it is above the cabins. Hope this helps.
mitsguy2001 Posted September 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2006 This is the 3rd time I've asked this question on boards during the last 4 months. I've never gotten a reply....I'm beginning to wonder if these cabins really exist. I have actually seen some deck plans that show a nightclub, rather than cabins, in that area. When I called NCL, they said that those cabins don't exist. But, she was looking at the Jewel deck plan, which has the casino in that location. And, someone who was on the POH said that the Deck 6 cabins really do exist. One thing I noticed about the statistics is that the Deck 6 cabins are significantly smaller, but more expensive, than the equivalent Deck 5 cabins. And, you are below the promenade deck. I had assumed that was a jogging deck, but someone said that it is quiet and just walking. I avoided Deck 6, primarily because of the small cabin size, and booked a Category DD room on Deck 5. I hope that Deck 5 isn't too noisy, and I hope that my room doesn't have too much motion.
karen2cruz Posted September 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2006 It seems as though NCL is the only one with the right deckplan. My normal places, cruisedeckplan.com cruisestateroom.com, travelocity didnt show them (I did report the error).
mbmam2 Posted September 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2006 I was on the POH 8/7 cruise. The cabins do exist, as I walked by them a couple of times. It was actually very quiet there becasue there was so little traffic. We stayed on deck 11, so I cannot comment on the service, though I saw stewards there everytime I walked through. It became an easy shrotcut from the bars on that floor to the elevators. I have to admit that a couple times when I walked through I had more that a couple of drinks! CruiseAddict58 Posted September 20, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted September 20, 2006 Thank you all for your comments and advice. Prior to booking the 3 cabins I chose on deck 6, I discussed at length with my NCL cruise consultant about the size of the 3 cabins I reserved and she confirmed that all 3 of them are 161 sq ft. which it was showed on the NCL site when I booked them. I just looked on the NCL site and noticed that 6514 is vacant and it shows to be 161 sq ft. The first few closest to the balcony of the Stardust show they are much smaller ranging between 138-158 sq ft. I thought when I checked about the same price cabins on deck 5 that they were only 161 sq ft also....is this not correct, are they larger. Many of the other cruise websites do show that the Deck 6 cabins do not exist. Wonder if I should call again tomorrow to re-confirm? I chose these because we could get 3 adjoining rooms. Any further advice would be most appreciated.

The ones that were available on my cruise were all significantly smaller. However, that is because the NCL website only shows a few cabins at a time as being available, and shows only the forward-most ones. The result is booking earlier gives you a worse cabin. The reason why we booked so early was because I booked what I thought was the last available 161 sq ft oceanview cabin on the ship. I did not realize that after I booked, better location cabins would open up. I was somewhat annoyed, since I felt that I was conned into booking earlier than I should have.
