texancruzer Posted September 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2006 Well here are my ideas: 1. Go to a local travel agency - pick up one of RCI's brochures....nice shiny pictures of people having fun in exotic tropical locations.....not to mention the pictures of the gorgeous ships..... 2. Do research on the ports of call for your sailing...... find all the "fun" stuff to do in each port....... find some nice shiny pictures of people having fun doing all those things in port.... 3. Explain how you pack your bags once.... unpack on the ship and then your "hotel room" moves you around from place to place..... 4. Figure out the costs involved.... example our next cruise was $619. per person total (incl insurance) for 7 nights in an oceanview room. Take 619.00 and divide by 7 and for less than a hundred a day you get to cruise.... all your food....etc... be honest tho - there are extras on top of that.... tips, alcohol, casino $ :D Well I'm sold.........oh wait I am leaving on my third in 5 weeks+
Happy ks Posted September 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 26, 2006 I would probably just go to RCI and have a brochure to wherever you are sailing sent to her. I've done this plenty of times for my family. Let her know what you have done, so she doesn't just pitch it when she gets it in the mail. All you can do is to let her know where and when you will be going, the rest is up to her. She already knows that you are doing this, you just have to let her decide on her own. sgttami Posted September 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2006 Hey, if you pay for them, they probably won't care where they are going!!! (Only kidding...) My sister was the one who had to talk me into cruising.......and I listened!!! I told her I'd go ONCE.....well, I'll say no more!!
suezyq50 Posted September 26, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2006 Share with her about the pampering they will get. Three of my sisters went on their first cruise last year. It was a mother/daughters cruise. They loved it. Tell her she doesn't need to think about planning meals, cooking, cleaning, just relaxing. samtig Posted September 26, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2006 My husband didn't want to go for years either. He was in the Navy & said that's all the sailing he wanted to do. Finally convinced him to go once. We've been on 1 or 2 cruises every year since. If we could afford it, he'd book more than that. He likes it just as much as I do! Try it once.... Rare lv2cruisgrl Posted September 26, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2006 Go on webshots.com and pull up some of the cruise ship pictures. That should give her a good idea of just how cool these ships are!
Momeof3 Posted September 26, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2006 Here is a web site that has virtual tours of practically every room on the ship. Hopefully your ship is on the list, invite her over make her a pina colada or something else with an umbrella and sit down and check out the ship. http://www.virtualtoursusa.com/galleryships.htm It took me 13 years of pushing DH to go on a cruise he finally broke down and we went he is now hooked and plans on cruizin every year. We even talked our neighbors into going and we had a blast, well to top it off we will all be traveling together every year.

Jakie710 Posted September 26, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 26, 2006 My bf wasn't enthused -- said maybe a 3 or 4 day cruise. I told him it had to be at least a week and he said "there's not enough to do aboard a ship" (said he who has never sailed!) I pulled out the newletters with the schedule from past cruises -- not he can't wait to go! "A wine-tasting, a basketball court, ice skating, really? On board the ship?" :)
