Inside upgrade on the day of the cruise?

My aunt will be in an inside stateroom on deck ten on the Norwegian Dawn. Is it possible to get an upgrade before we set sail on November 5th?

Hmm....are you looking for a free "offered" upgrade? Or do you want to request an upgrade that you pay for?

You can always call NCL and see if they will offer you one but if you just want to pay for one that certainly can be done if there are cabins left in the category you prefer.

As for them calling you with an offer.....anything is possible! ;)

Did she book a GTY? If so, check her registration and see if a cabin number was assigned.

You can call for an "upsell" and she can pay addl., if she wants to be sure of a higher category.

Happy sailing:)

The upsell department is not accepting calls right now. That policy has been in effect for a while because they were getting overwhelmed by pax calling all day, every day. Also, just to be clear, even if you could call for an upsell, it is not at all a sure deal. They may not even be offering them for that ship's cruise date.

Ari939: If you are asking about a free upgrade, no you really can't just call and say, "Hey, how about a free upgrade" before the cruise date. If you could, the phones would never, ever stop ringing. (You think hold times are long now; oh boy, they'd be forever.) They may call to offer an upsell (paid upgrade at a substantial discount) or (this is rare, but it does happen occasionally) they may give her a free upgrade. Otherwise, you could inquire after check in if any cabins are available for upsell/upgrade on the cruise date. (That doesn't happen too often anymore because ships are sailing pretty full these days.) Is she cruising single in the cabin? If so, it's less likely that they will offer an upsell. That doesn't mean they won't, just that most upsells are p/p, so they want to have at least two pax booked in the cabin.

The only other thing you could do would be to pay whatever the actual fare difference is to change cabins now. Do keep checking the fares beause although they will not give you a new lower fare if it drops after final payment, they have been known to allow upgrades if (for example) the oceanview cabin fares are lowered to what you paid for an inside cabin. No guarantees, but they will sometimes do it.

Good luck and I hope you all have fun regardless.:)
