auburnfan Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 Relatively new to cruising...have only been on one previously. Can someone explain what the differences are in cabins ranked D3, E2, and E1 are, other than about $40, on Mariner.
wrp96 Posted September 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2006 A D cabin is larger than an E cabin. Other than that the only difference is location and how many people the cabin will hold.
plantocruise Posted September 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2006 wrp96 is right, the E cabins have just a love seat size couch in the sitting area where the D cabins have a full size couch in the sitting area. In most cases the balcony will be the same size unless it is an aft room.

negc Posted September 29, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2006 Are the aft balconies larger??? Yes they are and many people like them for that reason. However, the aft cabins are a good distance from the nearest elevators and public stairwells so if mobility issues are a consideration, you might prefer something midships. Radiance class ships have some rooms on the hump which have larger balconies, though not as large as the aft rooms.:)
Jakie710 Posted September 29, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2006 We've been on Mariner twice -- first time had a D cabin -- very nice and the walk in closet was great as it doubled as a dressing room -- there were three -- me, mother and my son. One changed in the bedroom, one in the bathroom, and one in the closet. also, there was a screen you could pull across to actually divide the bedroom and living room. We did an E cabin on the next cruise (secretly hoping for an upgrade -- Spring Break -- no dice) and it was adequate -- barely. Decided we would never do that again. If there's more than two people, I'd go for the D cabin. I didn't notice any difference in th size of the balcony. Also depends how much time you actually plan to spend in your room -- y mother liked to sit in the room or on the balcony -- I was there to change clothes and sleep -- my son (11) was there as litle as possible! If you had a walk in closet, it sounds like you had a junior suite, not a D balcony cabin.
