txcruisecat Posted September 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2006 We will be in Montego Bay next summer. Our kids will be 13 and 9. What are the best excursions for a family? Thanks!!!
vmom Posted October 1, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2006 We did Dune's River Falls and river tubing with Phil Layfayette. We had a great time especially with the river tubing.
txcruisecat Posted October 2, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted October 2, 2006 How did it work using an independent operator and not using the ship's excursions? We did this in Belize. I guess it worked well in Jamaica for you?

vmom Posted October 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Phil picked us up just a few steps from where we got off the ship. The vans/small buses were very nice and comfortable. Maybe 16 people or so per van. We got to Dunes River Falls just as the Falls were opening and were one of the first groups through so there were no crowds. After that Phil took us on a driving tour through the countryside and saw fern gully and other very interesting areas. Then we went river tubing. It was really great. We all had so much fun. It was one of the highlights of the cruise. When we go back, we are definately going river tubing again. Phil dropped anyone off who wanted to shop at the shopping center next to the pier and brought the rest of us back to the ship. It was a wonderful day and I would recommend it to anyone.
