Donna Kincaid Posted October 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We will be in Curacao in November on the Jewel of the Seas. I have read several glowing reviews of Playa Porto Mari. We would be very interested in going there, but don't want to pay the steep cab fare. I have read that some people took a larger van for $10.00 each. Is this something you have to arrange in advance, or would a van be available at the pier for whomever chose to take it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. thatbloominplace Posted October 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2006 taxis, including vans, charge by the person. so... if you can find others ahead of time it would reduce your price. unfortunately, we didn't find others onboard o join us, nor were there any others ashore looking to go. we ended up spending $80 to go there. it is a wonderful beach and has a nice short hike upthe cliffs. definitely don't regret going, just hoped we could have gone for less. steve
SimonaD Posted October 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We are renting a car right in the port, for less than $50 for the day on Dec 26, from Avis. I assume all the beaches will have parking!
rjscott Posted October 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Donna and Steve, does your sailing have a Roll Call thread? You might try posting there to see if you can generate some interest in getting a small group together to taxi to the beach. We had asked another couple at our "meet & greet" and they asked two other couples, so our taxi (van) ride was $10pp each way. The driver also waited for us as we only had a couple of hours to spend there, as some had afternoon excursions planned. Good luck! Becki
