Lynne Myrna Posted October 4, 2006 #26 Share Posted October 4, 2006 This is what makes the world go round.....a difference of opinion....it is only right to tip if you are getting a service.....if the service is not good....then you decide for yourself what kind of tip you will give....that's if you give a tip at all. I really don't think that leaving your nightly mints stacked up.....IS A TIP!!!!!! especially if it gets bitter???????? come on now!!!!!
cruznon Posted October 4, 2006 #27 Share Posted October 4, 2006 I agree...what to tip room service is a personal choice. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable NOT tipping the room service server. (We usually give $2-$4...depending on our request.0 Coffee and breakfast on the balcony is definitely such a treat that I am delighted to have the room service person make my day start so beautifully....tipping them is my way of saying I appreciate their efforts...my personal choice. cruzincurt Posted October 4, 2006 #28 Share Posted October 4, 2006 Early in my cruising career I thought I heard that the room service delivery people "volunteer" for this extra work assignment. If not for additional tips, why would they? I agree with Cruznon. I think where some of the debate comes from is those who don't want to tip any more than they have to, so they rant about the auto-service tip covering everything. I guess those that tip extra make them nervous.
