giraffeman Posted October 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2006 Has anyone ever used Caribbean Tour Services (CTS) to book a tour to the Baths in the British Virgin islands? See below. (or any other tour they offer) This fabulous cruise departs St. Thomas via a very comfortable motor vessel bound for the Baths on Virgin Gorda. These enchanting mysterious rock groupings form pools and caves that are great to snorkel and explore. A deli style lunch is served on the boat while anchored at Norman Island, another lovely British Virgin Island near by. After lunch there will be time to stop at another famous dive spot called the Bight where numerous caves attract abundant and curious schools of fish. (passport or voter registration, birth certificate with raised seal and photo identification). Non US passengers must clear customs returning to the USVI. 8.5 hours-0 person minimum/45 maximum per boat
wrp96 Posted October 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2006 You would really be risking it to attempt that long of an independent excursion on your cruise. Looking at the Crown Princess itinerary, you are scheduled to get in at 7am, which means you won't be off the ship before 7:30am at the earliest (and that's if everything goes right clearing the ship). You have to be back onboard no later than 5:30pm since you leave at 6pm. That leaves you only 10 hours total if everything goes right. The trip itself is 8.5 hours. It doesn't say where it departs from but unless it departs from Crown Bay you'll have to figure in transportation time to and from the pier. You basically would have no leeway time if anything went wrong, including traffic backups to and from the pier.
richtersl Posted October 5, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2006 Your best bet for seeing the Baths is to either book a cruise that stops in the British Virgin Islands or do a land-based vacation in either the British or the US Virgin Islands. Betsy's Mom Posted October 5, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2006 This sounds great, but the reality can be much longer time wise. You have to go through 2 sets of Customs, BVI and US and depending on how crowded they are you could miss the ship for sure. If the seas are high you will also be held up getting there. We live on St Thomas and have been to the BVI (Virgin Gorda) on a power boat and it was a very long day because of Customs and the seas. Agree with Richters, have a land vacation with less stress. Enjoy yur cruise! B.
