Has anyone prepurchased the carnival fun ship dollars? Do you mail them in ahead of time for onboard credit? Good idea or not? Anyone have any suggestions or warnings about them!!

We always get funship dollars,it is a great way to save for your cruise. We buy some every couple of weeks, then when your about 3 or 4 weeks from cruising just mail them in.When we got off the Miracle last week Carnival gave us a check for what we did not use,a big 10.87 LOL:D

Hi PGH

We also purchased Funship Dollars on several separate occassions before our cruise.

My advice is to have them apply them as an onboard credit to your account.

This way, there's no chance of anything being lost in the mail or left on the kitchen counter in the mad rush out the door to start your vacation (that said, you can also apply them on your account when you embark). We had them applied on our account and sure enough, they showed up as a nice credit when we immediately checked our account upon embarkation.

I did have them fax me a receipt of purchase every time one was made, just in case;)

As others have said, it's a wonderful way to be able to stash away money for your cruise before you leave:)

When you order them online you can just put your booking number instead of your street address and they will apply them to your account. when you board and get your sail and sign they will be on it. I can see on my reservation that i have a certain amount on my record as a credit. Not everyone can though. I booked through carnival so that is why i can.

This is exactly right, i did it that way, put your booking number where your street address is, and they apply it to your sign and sail account.

O.K., here's the question I have about the funship dollars...

I have been buying them every payday til my cruise in January. I have been receiving them via mail. Plan on going to the Purser's desk once we get on board to have them applied to our account.

Here's where it gets sticky...my daughter-in-law and I are in 1 cabin, and they have my husband and son (her husband) in the next cabin. Our Carniva PVP did it like this so we could get the past guest discount. No problem there, we'll switch around cabins when we get on board and get extra room keys at the Pursers desk.

When I go to have the Funship Dollars applied to my husband's and my account, how will they do this? Will I have to split up the Funship Dollars and put so much on my account and so much on his? Can my husband and I be on the same account even though we are technically in different cabins and different booking numbers?

I have been wondering about this, and hope someone knows the answer!

Every one has separate sail and sign accounts. You will have one and your husband will have one, (even if you were booked in the same cabin, you would have separate cards and accounts). Why not either just apply them all to yours, or apply some to his and some to yours. This shouldnt be a problem. Both of your sail and sign accounts can be tied to the same credit card or what ever form of payment you will be using, but will be recorded separately. If you only apply the fun dollars to one account, just use that sign and sail card for your purchases. Does that make sense?

We will soon be getting certificates for $1,000 fun ship dollars and then will send them in to apply these to our January cruise onboard charges (still won't be enough, but sure will help :-)

I went into Carnival.com to book our shore excursions and they wanted me to pay then.

I want the shore excurions to be charged to our onboard account. I don't want to pay for them now because we will soon have the Funship dollars to pay for them.

The question:

Once they receive our certificates for the Funship dollars, before our cruise, will this be reflected online so I can book and pay for our shore excursions?

Has anyone else had this expereince?

Thanks,

Judy

I just booked 2 excursions. I have money already on my account (for the S&S) that i have ordered online. When i booked the excursions online there was no where to apply the credit i have so i had to pay with a credit card. No biggie as I expected this but i hope this answers your question...:)

Thanks! I think I will divide them up equally between his account and mine. There are times we aren't together, and he has this habit called "Bucket of Beer" and I have a habit called "Casino"...:D

I give funship dollars as gifts all the time. You can order them to be delivered to you and you can give them to the recipient. They can take them to the purser's desk for credit to their sail and sign or they can mail them to apply to their balance.

Bazoo, where do you see the credit? I ordered some online and I want to make sure I did it correctly. I put my booking number where my street address goes.....but I still had to put my city, state and zip.

I booked directly through Carnival, I didn't use a TA.

I just bought Fun Ship Dollars online too. I used my booking number for my street address and then carnival sent me a generic email from its gifts and services dept.

Thank You for shopping at Carnival's Gifts and Services.

Below are the details of your order including your Order Number.

Please print and keep this page for your records.

and then one from an employee by name

Your request has been processed. It will be setup as a shipboard credit directly onboard for the guests below on the CONQUEST 12/10/06. If you have any questions regarding your gift certificate order, please contact Special programs at 1-800-906-7603. Thank you for choosing Carnival.

Hope that sets your fears to rest :)
