Question About Travel Clubs and RCCL Prices

During the summer there was a cruise listed out of Harwick Eng. for Scotland, etc. with RCCL. The prices for balconies was around $3,600. In late summer they were sold out. Inside staterooms were $2,600 (approx). Some friends of mine have now secured three balcony rooms on this cruise through a Travel Club that they belong to for a total of $5,000 for each cabin. Has anyone ever heard of these travel clubs and how do they work. Thanks

There are several that specialize in last minute vacation sales. They purchase unsold cabins, airplane seats, and hotel rooms and sell them for (supoosedly) a 50% reduction. The concept is that the vendor has someone using what would have been empty and is willing to lose some money to make a little.

 

There are cabins that return to inventory from groups and travel agency holds at the last minute and some of these sites may actually have some space. The recent boom in travel - airlines and cruise ships especially, has made the pickings on these sites pretty lean. I know some people get good deals, but they are usually seasonal and I never seem to travel in that season:rolleyes:
