Save money on wine!

Because wine is expensive if purchased onboard, I'm having mine delivered to my room by a bon voyage delivery company. I'm ordering 7 bottles for an 8 day cruise and will pay less than $100. I enjoy a glass of shiraz before dinner on the balcony. I'll spend my money on excursions or in the casino...

Seeing that I'm flying in a day early to Ft. Lauderdale I'll be stopping at the wine store for 4 bottles plus a bit of the hard stuff. I'm also sending myself & DW a gift basket that had champagne in it. So 5 for us should be good. Nothing like a nice glass of wine on the balcony while getting ready for formal night, or any other time for that matter.

What company do you use? I've looked but never found one that was that inexpensive.

I found the Supertarget wine cubes this weekend, and bought 3 of those to pack in the suitcase. Each cube is equal to 4 bottles, so it's a pretty good deal, IMHO.

I'm looking to have wine sent to each cabin before we board - so it is there as a gift, but also I hate having to carry anything extra. So, the Bon Voyage gift company would be perfect for me but the ones I've found have prices very similar to the cruise lines i.e. too high. :cool:

Try "Just Because of You, Inc." in Margate Florida. I know they deliver to the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami ports but they might service other ports as well. The phone number that I have is 305-751-1001. They can fax you a list of their products or you can simply ask for what you're looking for. They charge a 6% tax and $5 per delivery that goes to RCC. You can get 3-4 bottles of wine per order but you can have multiple orders (extra $5 charge for each order.

Just as an update for new people looking - RCI has stopped the "Just Because of You" company from delivering anything alcohol to the ship as a gift. Anything else is fine, but no alcohol. :mad: All I want is cheaper wine!

I didn't even know you could do this. They will let you get wine as a gift but you can't carry on your wine, is that it?

 

Do you still get charged a corkage fee?

Some ships/cruise companies might let you get wine as a gift, but RCI apparently doesn't (according to Just because of you people and all the trouble you have getting it on the ship), unless you buy it from them.

Interesting, RCCL is usually pretty fair about things. IMHO!
