Does anyone know when the formal nights are.

 

I think the first formal will be the first day at sea.

 

I know you don't have to dress up in formal wear if you don't want to, but I just want to plan which nights to book the specialty restaurants.

I just returned from the 8night Star, the formal night was on the second sea day, we had two sea days going down to Acapulco.

Was your itinerary the same as ours:

 

1 - LA

2 - 3 At Sea

4 - Acapulco

5 - Zihuatanejo

6 - Puerto Vallarta

7 - Cabo San Lucas

8 - At Sea

9 - Los Angeles

 

So the 2 formal nights were at Day 3 At Sea, and was the second on Day Seven at Cabo.

Yes, it was. The formal night is the second sea day (day 3) and the 'elegant' (I call it semi-formal!) is day 7 after Cabo.

I have always found it easier to get into the specialty restaurants on the optional formal nights for some reason, and the lines to the main restaurants to be longer on the formal nights. I'm not sure why because you can dress the same in all venues.
