ecs0624 Posted October 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2006 I booked the Carnival Legend for 11/8 and didn't listen to everyone's advice and declined the travel insurance. We booked through Cruise.com so no travel agent. As Murphy's law goes now my husband has injured his knee and will be having unexpected surgery next week. The doc said that best case scenario it will be a quick recovery and he'll be walking around like normal within a week so we'd still be find to go. However, if there is ACL damage he will be on crutches for a month. I'd love to reschedule until the 11/24 sailing just in case. Is there anything I can do or are we just out of luck? I've learned the hard way, I'll always book the insurance for now on!:o Thanks for any advice you may have!

You may be able to get some sort of credit with Carnival for a future cruise, depending upon how full the ship is. The cruise is still 3 weeks away so there is hope. Carnival is the most ameniable to unexpected circumstances. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

judyjbest Posted October 14, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2006 Carnival's flexibility to assist you will depend on how sales are going on both of those sailings and how hard your online company will work for you. Another one of those bad things about booking without a real person. Good luck! Yes, injuries and illnesses can surprise even the most healthy of us ... unless you can afford to lose your vacation investment, travel insurance is a small price! mjt2890 Posted October 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2006 Don't book the insurance w/ the cruise line directly, you usually get much better coverage for the same or less money booking insurance seperately. Visit http://www.insuremytrip.com to compare different policies/companies. Sorry to hear about your husband. I too just received a knee injury, poss a medial meniscus tear in my right knee, though I'm totally going on the cruise (Victory) next Saturday out of Miami! Wishing your hubby a speedy recovery!
