GulfCoastCruiser Posted October 19, 2006 #51 Share Posted October 19, 2006  We were on the AOS (itinerary that included Barbados and Antigua) the first week of October and absolutely loved the cruise. We both felt like the food was probably the best we've had on a RCCL cruise. The steaks were very good and the prime rib was excellent. Lobster was good, although very small. All other aspects of the cruise were great, but I must admit that I was disappointed in the responses I received from the Excursions Desk. It seemed as though their main interest was selling tickets - not giving advice. Each time I inquired about a preferred beach, etc., I was simply given a list of beaches. Very disappointing as I really wanted advice - such as I had received on other RCCL cruises.
JKHawaii Posted October 20, 2006 #52 Share Posted October 20, 2006 I'm sorry RLTHNG for jumping to conclusions, as others did, about your post. I also thought you had a problem with Puerto Ricans, I guess because you stated it was the worst cruise you had been on and followed immediately that there were 2,000 (un-American) Puerto Ricans on board. I figured (apparently, incorrectly) that the only reason you felt the need to mention the number of Puerto Ricans on board is that you have a problem with them. I apologize for reading something into your post that you did not intend. I now know that intolerance for other cultures is the furtherest thing from your mind. Fran Harp Posted October 20, 2006 #53 Share Posted October 20, 2006 This cruise was worst I've been on and I've sailed two previous cruises. There were over 2,000 people from Puerto Rico on the ship because there cruises were only $299.00. Why don't they offer that rate to Americans at the last minute? They'd fill that ship up in a heart beat. Food in the Wind Jammer was not good. The bacon had no taste at all. The eggs were undercooked. Food was not hot. The service was so slow. Even our evening waiter asked us daily what could they do in the Wind Jammer to make things better? How did he know there were problems there? We never mentioned it to him. Our head waiter was told of our ten year anniversary and did not even wish us a Happy Anniversary on the day. My husband ordered roses and chocolate covered strawberries to be delivered on our anniversay and they were in our room on our arrival. When he complained they did nothing. They ruined his surprise and he had nothing for me on that day. These are just a few problems we encountered. I could go on. It was also the worste disembarktion I have ever witnessed. I won't sail out of Puerto Rico again and I will rethink RCCL too. Everyone on our flight home also agreed with all I have wrote. The highlight was the casino. Best dealers out there and I lost and still loved them. I'd love to hear any other comments from this cruise on this sail date. CHRIS:( Everyone on the whole flight agreed with you? I recognise that some people react differently than others, and your experience for you was not good, But don't exaggerate too much...... momofslg Posted October 20, 2006 #54 Share Posted October 20, 2006 I was on this sailing also and there were many problems. I wrote my review last night and gave my prospective. I do agree with the OP that there were many people from Puerto Rico who got killer deals on their rooms. Our tablemates at lunch stated that they received a fare of 300pp. I asked if this fare included all taxes/ fees/ and port charges and they said yes. Our dinner mates stated the same thing. I wish I would find a deal lilke this. I do feel that this is why the ship may not have met my expectations. It just felt too over run. Even during the shows and parades they made more of point to cater to the people from Puerto Rico. They skated down the Promenade with the Puerto Rico flag waving away, they didn't display any other flag at all. Just not right! Did I have a good time- yes. Could it have been better- you bet. I hate to dwell on the bad because I don't want my memories of this trip to be bad. ~Lisa
