emliss Posted October 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2006 Hi All, First cruise and didn't realize 10 months before sail date was not soon enough to get good cabin. Have little choice now but need your input. Have choice of port, mid ship cat H or cat E1 but both next to elevator. Will elevator noise or hall traffic be a problem? Really want port and mid ship soooooo....... Thanks

emliss Posted October 18, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks Connie, Have read your posts before and appreciate your advise. Am going with the cat H, portside, mid-ship (2 from elevator) and am so excited about this first cruise. Flying to Anchorage and staying with friends and doing our own "land tour" for a week. Taking the Radiance of the Seas out of Seward for the Southbound Inside Passage. Were supposed to go last year but had to cancel when our travel companions had major health issues. Thanks again. I may be asking other questions as I prepare for this trip.
emliss Posted October 18, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted October 18, 2006 4merlurker, Thanks for the encouragement to go for the near elevator cabin. Booked today and am really excited as I'm sure we'll be fine there.

beach2sea Posted October 22, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2006 We were on the NCL Majesty. The wall at the head of the bed was against the elevators, the side wall ran along the adjoining hallway. The only sounds we heard were from the hallway through the door. bovs Posted October 28, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 28, 2006 We were on the NCL Majesty. The wall at the head of the bed was against the elevators, the side wall ran along the adjoining hallway. The only sounds we heard were from the hallway through the door. Which is pretty much the way sounds enters in most ships cabins! Sounds like the walls to your cabin were well soundproofed by the elevators.
beachbuddy Posted October 29, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2006 We always try to get near the elevator/stairs (we usually just use the stairs), and we have never had a problem with noise. You'll be glad you took it. Beachbuddy
Barbee524 Posted October 30, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2006 We had a cabin on the Radiance that appeared on the deck plans to be next to the elevators. There is actually space between the elevators and the cabins. We had no problem with elevator noise at all and have booked the same cabin on the Serenade for next spring. WindinmySails Posted October 31, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2006 Both cruises, had rooms nexto or close to elevators. Everything is so convenient--just an elevator ride away!
