A good deal of the information on that link is incomplete, inaccurate or out-of-date.

 

Mind you, I use Wikipedia all the time for trivial things but it is easy to see that many articles like this one are "works in progress" and are really not very good resources.

My worst cruising experience came sometime around 1994 on the RCCL Song of America. My wife, myself and my 5 year old daughter plus two other couple friends of ours were on what we thought would be an adventure in paradise on a week long cruise to Bermuda! Yeh, it turned out just fine - ha, ha. First few days were excellent then Hurricane Bertha arrived. Captain said we had to leave Bermuda and try to outsail the storm. Instead of heading back to NY and ending the cruise which is a no-no because then the cruise line would have to refund and refund and refund. Anyhow we headed north and just couldn't shake old Bertha. Like other stories of storm adventures, we had people all over the place. The kitchen was open range but everything else was closed tight, that is what the crew could manage to secure. My friend Fred, his one daughter and myself were the only ones in our party that did not get ill. We even sat and ate and watched the waves throw fish by the dining room portholes.

Too bad the casino wasn't open - might've had some luck on the quarter push table! My other friend Butch said he being an ex-sailor that he could withstand the high seas and rocking and rolling - this lasted for about an hour for him and then he was off to the doctor's for a shot to help ease everything for him. My wife and daughter didn't come out of our room for almost 2 days while we were battling Bertha. It wasn't fun but it was an adventure I soon won't forget and hopefully never have to experience again on future cruises.
