Sushi on the Miracle

Beach Bound

Recommended Posts

How good is the Sushi?

Do they have it daily and when and where is it served?

My son hates to wear pants and so will miss out on the lobster, because we won't be going to the main dinning room, except maybe the first night if it's ok to go in.

Someone mentioned you can order some food not listed on the menu on other days like maybe on a casual night, if I can talk him into a very confortable pair of pants highly unlikly.

Is there good food from room service?

An answer to any of these would be great! Thanks!:)

Sushi was available everday and was ok. When I was on the Miracle it was was just outside Phantom Lounge bur you shoudl check the Capers for the locatiojn. You can order steak or chicken any night in the dining room. If I remember corectly, room service is mostly sandwiches.

You got that right but thats another matter.

If its worth it to him to feel comfortable enough to forgo the Lobster I guess that's his proocutive. It is his graduation present. I just hoped there would be a way to have our cake and eat it too. If you know what I mean.:) thanks for your reply

Lobster is only served on Monday night (which is the first formal night).

The sushi is by the fountain (waterfall) on level 2 just outside the casino. It must be ok because there was always a line.

Sorry but I have to agree with Venture. Why are you taking him on this cruise, if he can't abide by a very simple dress code unless there is some physical reason (like he has his leg in a huge cast that pants won't fit over comfortably)?

Since you are taking him, tell him he has to stay in the room while you go eat lobster!

Ok, now that I know we are talking about a man who is almost grown...here is my recommendation. Let him eat on Lido or in the room etc. You go and have your lobster, prime rib and whatever other delights your heart desires!!!

(and that's an order!) ; )

He is 17, he does not have to stay in the room. HE SAYS THERE ARE LOTS OF OPTIONS. I guess there's a reason for that. Many people may feel the same way.

I have noticed the dress issue is a extremly heated topic I don't recall asking for advice on managing my son's attire. Just if there was a possiblity of having lobster...

But I know your just trying to help. so thanks!:)

Well, geez... just go have Lobster dinner without him. He'll be 18, so should be fine for 1 1/2 hours while you are dining high on the hog... and while he eats from the trough (ahem... buffet line -- comparibly speaking, anyway). I thought he was like 12 or 13 (you know... where the Brain Fairy comes and takes his brain... and doesn't give it back for 10 years...?)...:D

To answer your original question:

Room service is limited to sandwiches, fruit, coffee and the like.

The buffet's have decent food... but not lobster, and not what you will find in the dining room. There is plenty to eat on the ship, so no one will go hungry.

Really, plan on having dinner in the dining room, and have him bring along some pants just in case he decides to join you. The dininf service and menu are to die for... I could not imagine missing out on that.

Best of luck.

Room service is not your only option. He can go in the buffet area, can't he? By no pants, you mean he walks around in shorts? Aren't shorts allowed in buffet for dinner. Don't know from 1st hand experience as I have never frequented the buffet area for dinner.

She's refering to the dining room, where most of folks dress business causual or better. Lobster night is formal night... where folks are highly dressed up. You will feel way underdressed this night only wearing Business casual dress.

I think I will enjoy the dinning room.

We don't eat together at home.

But I am a single parent and it is just us going, will it be an uncomfortable situation going on my own?

The outfit he has will not make it to formal night.

I'm not sure what I'll wear for that matter?

I guess I'm sharing all these concerns because of your thoughtful replies:)

It will not be an uncomfortable situation on your own. People at the table are very friendly and easy to converse with. And a lot of please and thank-yous to the wait staff will result in superb service. The wait staff will tend to ignore grumpy, impolite people at the table. They love to give you wonderful server... but some people think they are servants, and not servers.

Most Women wear a evening gown or cocktail dress. You can get a decent one at Pennys for $50 to $100. I could swear I've also seen some dresses on board for $100.

Your son could also rent a Tux last minute on board too, if he wanted to join you. He would be over dressed at all in a tux.

I wouldn't miss any of the dinners if I were you. You will have the whole day and night to be with each other... an hour and a half will not be a big deal. I just love the service and the dinners.

Just be careful those people who hated the swingers on the Inspiration will be talking about your son next if he isn't wearing pants.

On a lighter note the sushi is not terrible, but the choices are not that extensive.

You will probably have table mates so you won't be sitting alone.

As long as he is not wearing blue jeans, any other type of long pants will pass. Will he wear a plain shirt, preferably white or black? I have seen lots of men not dress in suits for formal nights. Sure it's preferable but if you can at least get him to wear a shirt that is not loud and a a pair of long pants that is not blue jeans, he should be ok.

I can understand feeling uncomfortable eating alone. Of course a small part of it is the luck of the draw where tablemates are concerned, but I have found all our tablemates to be most welcoming. Even "formal" night for ladies does not mean long dresses. A dress would be fine. I have even seen those who were not even "Sunday dresses". Even a pantsuit is ok.

Carnival folks don't really dress up as much as other cruise lines do.

I'm with Ventureman. At first I was thrown thinking the age of your son was 11 (which is why I said tell him to just stay in the room, if he isn't going to follow your instructions).

But 17 is plenty old enough to take care of himself. I would just hate for you to miss out because he isn't interested in dressing up.

We just got off the Miracle last Sunday and I can tell you that you are in for a treat.

Also, don't feel bad doing stuff on your own. Hubby and I literally don't see each other after dinner. He does the shows and I do karaoke and the piano bar.

The piano bar starts at 9:30pm. It is a great place to go as a single. Michael is remarkable. He will make you feel very welcome. Tell him Aretha Franklin said for him to take good care of you!

Remember that breakfast and lunch in the formal dining room requires NO dress code (except no swim suits)...so you and your son can dine there together no matter what he wears.

So go have some wonderful excursions together....dine together when you can...but don't miss the dinner meals. I am betting that you will have a great time at dinner...all by yourself!

Remember, Monday is lobster. Although they do have lobster in some of the appetizers during the week. (Lobster Bisque, etc)

I am proud to say that I found a Vintage Albert Nipon black pantsuit for $37.50 at a second hand store...and I love it!! I wear it for at least one of the formal nights on every cruise. (It is the kind of pant suit that has the long top and the flowy pants.) Solid black and it is wonderful because it is also COMFORTABLE!!!

Hi Beach Bound,

I might be wrong here (I have a difficult time with my memory sometimes!)...but I thought I remembered on one of our Carnival Cruises that you could order from the dining room menu and get it through room service during dinner (dining room) hours. Something to check into...have a wonderful cruise!

That would be cool to be able to order it for room service.

I think I am going to be social and meet others. My son may love that idea, Are the movies in the room I thought I saw a post of a group of teens watching Animal House, I hope he gets involved. Would it be wrong to order an extra Lobster to go?:)
