Prinsendam verandah rooms

DH and I are contemplating a 2008 (planning ahead!!) cruise on the Prinsendam. We have never sailed her before, and have questions about the stateroom choice. Our previous HAL experiences have been on the Amsterdam and the Ryndam - in verandah suites. We are struck by the differences in square footage on the Prinsendam.

Does anyone have thoughts on booking a AB verandah stateroom on the promenade deck? The rooms are a lot bigger than the A verandahs. However, they seem awfully close to the casino with possible noise and smoke issues. Our other thought is to finally splurge on a SS or SY category, but we would rather spend the price difference on shore excursions, etc. Any suggestions or the sharing of past experiences would be greatly appreciated - as always!!!

We are recently back from our first Prinsendam cruise. The cabins you mention are in an area that seems to get very little traffic, because there are so few cabins back there. There's a nice big aft deck area that seemed to attract only a few people - mostly readers looking for a quiet place!

The cruise we were on was a 16-day Mediterranean. Whether the demographics of our particular sailing or due to some other factor, the casino was rarely busy. The aft cabins you mention are well insulated from casino traffic.

On our sailing, at least, there were fewer smokers than on any of other cruises.

Have a wonderful time! We loved the Prinsendam!

We spent 16nts in one of these AB Cat. cabins and loved every minute. They have larger verandas than the other mini suites and seem to be more private. Never heard any noise from the casino and the only traffic in this particular area was from those few cabins. You will love that rear deck and hot tub - it is like sailing on a private yacht. Have a wonderful cruise.
