cherylrrt Posted October 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2006 We are sailing in January on the Caribbean Princess and would like to start booking our excursions. Saw this one, I think that it is new but would like to get some feedback from anyone who has done this one. 'bubba' Bottom Fishing & Coastal Cruise Bring the whole family and try your luck bottom fishing in the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Board your transportation for a brief transfer to the fishing boat Bubba. Meet the professional crew and depart for a 45-minute cruise along the stunning St. Maarten coastline. Prior to reaching the fishing site your high-tech rod and reel will be issued and instructions on its use will be provided. Upon reaching the fishing site, the boat will drop anchor or drift depending on the current. Enjoy bottom fishing, for approximately two hours while the mates assist you in preparing and baiting the hooks. They will also be ready to lend a hand if you “get a bite!” The friendly host/hostess will also be close by to serve you complimentary beverages throughout the trip. Following the return cruise to Philipsburg you may either walk the short distance to town for shopping, or head back to the ship with the scheduled transportation to tell all your fellow passengers your day’s fishing stories! SPECIAL NOTES This is not trolling or big game/deep-sea sport fishing. This is a “catch & release” bottom-fishing excursion with the opportunity of catching fish such as snapper, grouper, red hinds, coneys, barracuda, triggerfish, snook, jack, and African pompano. Passengers prone to seasickness should take proper precautions. The minimum age required to participate is 8 years old. If you choose to remain in town, transportation back to the ship is your responsibility. Soft-soled shoes or “deck” shoes are recommended. willysgrandma Posted October 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2006 Several of the men in our group on the Nov. 4 cruise are doing this excursion. I'd be happy to update you when we get back on exactly what it entailed and whether they (who are all fishermen) thought it was worth it.
