StingRay City lost business?

This is not a thread to debate the merits of swimming with Stingrays (though I thought it was the neatest thing we did last time) but I was curious whether anyone knows some of the tour operators and can tell me if the operators are seeing a big decrease in business? We are going late November and originally most of our group of 17 were going to go to Stingray City after they watched our video of it. Then Steve Irwin died and the other older guy got attacked in his boat now more than half have backed out. Like I said, not to debate whether it is safe or not, but I wanted to know if the operators are really seeing a chance in interest.

We were there last week and believe me, plenty of people still going to the rays. Its the neatest thing as you say and its a shame that those people will not get to enjoy it!! I found it relatively safe but as with anything accidents happen, you can slip in you cabin shower and die there too you know....tell them this is once in a lifetime and to think about it....im glad we stuck with it, it wasnt even a thought as to yes or no after the irwin thing, it was always a go for us!!

Be interested to know the answer to your question tho, im sure its dropped just a little but i imagine not a lot.

we were on the Imagination last month. Supposed to go to grand cayman. Went to Bahamas instead:mad: That's a different story. I did note that carnival had pulled all of its stingray excursions. You had to book independently if you wanted a tour. Every one we called was sold out. We were going to see who was at the pier when we arrived.
