Carnival Freedom's new Godmother

Carnival has announced the Godmother for their new ship coming out, Carnival Freedom..... It will be, Kathy Ireland...... I think that was an awesome choice..... Much better than who Royal Caribbean chose for their newest ship, Martha Stewart...... Good job and congrats Kathy........:D

Actually Princess chose Martha Stewart. RCI chose a nobody mother of over 400 foster children as the Godmother of the Freedom. Shame on RCI for picking a nobody when they could have picked a supermodel such as Kathy Ireland that has done so much for the world. ;)

Why do ships name "godmothers?" what does that entail? whats the point?

 

just curious!

 

As far as I know the only point is to have somebody that will draw a little media attention to the christening for promotional purposes. I don't think there is any reason for a passenger to care whether the ship's godmother was Princess Diana or the Wicked Witch of the West.
