Cachaça is a Brazilian distilled liquor made from sugar cane juice. It has a kick like grappa or moonshine, and is most commonly used to make Caipirinhas. They smash a lot of lime with some sugar using a pestle, and add cachaça.

what is cachaça anyway? I've never heard of it.

Mike...when are you planning to arrive at the port?

Though I would really like to get on the ship as early as possible, I think I have decided to aim for rental car drop off at 1 30 and arrival at port around 2. I just don't think I will be a happy camper in the poential business of the boarding area.

This way I can also enjoy a leisurely start to the day.

Christopher

I think that it will be around 1pm. :-) I am not a fan of getting on first thing in the morning.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

Wanted to get "a little" color before leaving - girl at the tanning parlor promised me that ten minutes would not burn me - SHE LIED!

the legs are worse but I will spare you the bottom half of this photo!

HEAL! HEAL! (whimper, whimper)

Sorry to show you more than you probably wanted to see of me but I thought someone might get a chuckle out of my pain!

In 48 hours we will be in the air! Tick, tick, tick...

I feel bad for you, bud, but I did get a good chuckle at your expense. Everyone, remind me to tell you a funny story about one of my tanning sessions.

Boy, I come in from an evening out and find all these messages. It was like a computer version of Musical Chairs, everyone trying to be the 1000th message. Congratulations to Christopher!

We are both beer drinkers....give us a cold Coors Light and we are happy.

Although we do like wine with dinner and sometimes Irish Mist or B&B

afterwards. At Mexican restaurants we opt for Margaritas, and I like whiskey and diet soda while Bob likes his Gin & Tonic. We celebrate with Champagne and tend to enjoy an occasional Seabreeze at Rehoboth Beach, DE. In the summer by the backyard pool we make different frozen foofoo drinks. In other words.....yes, we like to drink!

I think I will just be drinking in the amazing atmosphere of having 3000 gay brothers and sisters in the most wonderful place in the world at that moment. That and an O'Douls.

Speaking of Capririhnas, I was in Rio during Carnivale and had a bunch of them by the pool all day then slept through the big celebration at the samba stadium. I learned my lesson.

Just got back from Target where we spent $168 on "stuff" for the cruise. We have just about everything ready. Ron :)

I love the expression on your face!

If the lobster coloration lasts through Monday, you could go au naturel to the Red Hot Party.

Put a cup of oatmeal in the blender and add it to a lukewarm bath - should help.

I don't want to appear a snob or anything but i like to sail away from port with a glass of champagne.

Christopher

Since it is our first cruise ever, I think champagne would be a good sail-away drink.

After visiting Chandon in California last September, I'll have to see if I can find some Chandon Riche in Ft. Lauderdale to take on board. Good stuff! I don't think I want to drag some all the way from NY in checked luggage even though it is not that easy to find.

1000 posts I really need to get on this ship.

Christopher

Congrats Christopher !!! You are our 1000 poster. Just for that you win dinner all week in the main dinning room. :D :D :D LOL No, actually you deserve a drink from each poster on this thread. That should narrow down your bar bill.

I can't believe we made it to over a thousand posts! I pity anyone who just finds our thread now before boarding :) That's a lot of chat.

JohnandLeonard - I am right there with you. My 9 minute booth session has burnt me to a crisp. I could barely sleep last night. It's my fair Irish skin. Pure Aloe gel from a health food store, as well as drinking a few ounces of Aloe juice helps a lot. Soaking yourself with tea also helps (something about the tannens drawing out the sting). For sleeping tonight, there is the Solarcaine. Hopefully I will not be a peeling mess by the time we board - or still in pain!

Favorite drink at all times: Citrus Vodka, with club soda and a splash of cranberry (known as a Rose Kennedy in some parts). And it is not a cruise if there aren't at least a few Jaeger Bombs late at night (Jaeger and Red Bull).

See you Friday at Pineapple Point, Tom!

I'm bringing a large bottle of vodka on board - going to try and keep the bar bill to the mid 3 digits this trip :)

I remember my first RSVP, '94 Aruba, when Danny Willliams said, at the last night's show, "Don't worry about getting up in time - some poor late-night queen will just be getting in at 5 a.m. and, when they see their bill, the blood-curdling scream will wake everyone." He was right. They were in the next cabin and their bill was over $3000!! Apparently they'd been treating everyone to copious amounts of champagne every night, etc.

I was shocked when I got mine, too, $650!! Until I realized it also included excursions and gift-store purchases... but still :( ...

A 11:50 flight will get me down to the warmth this afternoon........ahhhhh.

Mike.as for Christopher going on the Med cruise.....I think we will have to convince his new boyfriend......I had a dream last night they he fell for someone on this cruise........someone we introduced him to. Perhaps Qualityinlife.......maybe a Hoggythrob.....

Arrival on board......I intend to hit the terminal really early. In October I got to the terminal earlier than expected and there was a separate room for Princess Platinum members....who were in turn boarded first. I am hoping that will be the case in Ft lauderdale.

Name tags.......I made up as many as I could for the majority of posters on this thread....I will put them outside my cabin door so peel one off with your name and then we all will know who we are. cabin is P310 on Plaza deck (the deck we should be boarding on (the atrium level). See ya in Ft lauderdale.....at the cubbyhole where a certain John owes me a drink......and I will collect.

To all passengers that are balding, bald, shaved, buzzed, hairy chested, I appologize up front for the thoughts I will be thinkng......but its my vacation and I am allowed....right? LOL

Hope to hear details of everyone's wonderful week....

Good morning!

I hope that your upcoming cruise will be fabulous. Heaven knows you will hold court at the top side bar.............oh behave.

I envy you on a small ship....this jumbo is definitely not my style...but look at all the nice people that are going....everyone on this board is really nice!

To be honest I thought you were going to book at the last minute like Phil did. Then I could have had you both married off....just long enough to get a good divorce settlement...LOL You get a settlement, then buy me a Seabourn passage....gee that sounds like a good finders fee.

So glad to get out of work...things were really heating up, phone ringing off the desk and I would not want to see what is going to happen while I am out....a lot of people are going to experience some serious stress.......while I am sitting around checking out eye candy......life can be really good at times.

Off to the airport...early. TV said pileups all over this morning especially around the airport...figures.

Ciao

2 more crappy days left of work.... I won't bother mentioning how bad they are going to be. I will say this, I am going to need a lot of booze on Sat night in FLL to forget about this week so it doesn't bother me on the boat...

Who's buying? :)

I take a break for one day and look what happens! You guys go over teh 1000 mark! Aint we a chatty bunch?

I'm trying to relax this morning. Yesterday I was going nuts thinking of all the things I had to get done. Today, I'm saying F--- it! What gets done gets done.

Has anyone ever tried the spray tanning chamber where you are blasted with tanning solution while you do jumping jacks? Kind of sounds like a twisted porn doesn't it? I'm thinking about doing it tomorrow because I haven't had time to hit the tanning beds.

Then there are those of us who let the tanning bed hit them! ;) Sorry John!

Deep breaths and ohmmmmmmmmmm! Time to plan more.

Yes, have done the spray on tan before....lasts about 48 hours (if that long) but you have to have clothes you can discard after you get sprayed - that coloring gets on everything and doesn't wash out! Plus you have to put a gel over your hands and feet, nose, etc....places that will turn orange if you don't!

im so ready to get on this boat you have no idea!

at this point, any drink will do me good!

for the most part i will drink whatever comes to mind when im standing in front of the bar... strawberry daquiri's and pina coladas during the day by the pool -grey goose cosmos with dinner, and a few red bull and bicardi O's before dancing usually do the trick...

but im always willing to try new things, so if you catch me with a different drink everytime don't be surprised!

ooh that reminds me, anytime is a good time for a strawberry mojito!

btw, im NYCBRI's last minute cruise companion so I will be sure to be buy him his first drink :) id be stuck here in NJ if it weren't for him!

well boys and girls, have safe trips to ft. lauderdale, we will all be on the boat in about 69 hours!

I appears painfully obvious that a bulk of those who have been faithful posters to this thread have already made their departure. That leaves the few of us who have to wrok through Friday and do our traveling on Saturday.

Oh the work day tomorrow is going to drag on forever.

Last of the laundry is drying so that I can finish the packing tomorrow.

I think that I will try staying up through much of tomorrow night so that I sleep through the bulk of the nearly 9 hours of flying and make perhaps make the adjustment to the time change easier for me.

Glad you decided to introduce yourself to the board nj80snut. I imagine it has taen some time if you have manaed to read through all the posts here. We will have to grab a grey goose cosmo together...thats my favorite vodka and love myself a cosmo. Safe journey to the two of you. See you in Florida soon.

Christopher
