bogie113 Posted July 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2004 Hi to anyone who just got back from Dover/Stockholm on Regatta. If anyone has the time I have 1,000 questions. 1. Did anyone on your sailing use Victoria Russian Tourist House in St. Petersburg and if so were they happy? 2. What was the westher like in various ports? Did you need jackets or sweaters in morning [or during the day for that matter]? 3. Were the waters calm, and if not are there meds on ship or do you need to bring your own. 4. What was your overall opinion. Thanks a lot and welcome home. Marsha
jfb128 Posted July 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2004 We did the Stockholm to Dover cruise two weeks before this last one. The weather was overcast with high's in the mid to upper 60's from Stockholm thru Copenhagen. It reached 70 in Gdansk and Berlin and hit the high 70's in Brugges and Amsterdam. We had rain in Copenhagen and spotty rain in Berlin. Many people in these locales indicated that the end of July and first part of August is their warmest part of the year. We dressed in layers and unfortunately wore our shorts only on sea days. The seas were generally calm. Since motion doesn't bother my wife or I we are probably not the persons to ask. I have not heard of Victoria Russian Tourist House. We used red october and were very pleased. St. Petersburg was such a delight if you have a small group you should be fine. If your tour guide is anything like ours, willing to make things happen, talking to you about what you want to see, ( moving to the front of lines ,etc.), you will have a great time. Have a great trip.
jfb128 Posted July 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2004 One last thought we were very pleased with the cruise. This was our second Oceania cruise and we noticed many improvements. Take a positive attitude, enjoy the scores of upbeat people around you and get to know the Regatta staff and you will enjoy your cruise with Oceania. The ports on this cruise are great especially St. Petersburg, Copenhagen and Brugges. And Gdansk was a very special surprise to us.
