In Florida, I've done better using either Hotwire or Priceline for my car rentals but, I'm usually renting them for a week at a time rather than for just one day. For instance, I had a car reserved through Thrifty for nearly $300 for the week. Through Priceline I got the same size car (midsize) for $168. Granted I can't use my prefered renters account to skip the line but, for $132 in savings I can stand in line for a little while.

I consistently found better rates on Priceline, Hotwire and even Kayak.com . :cool:

I was able to get a midsize car on priceline for two days for $14/day. The total was $52, including all fees.
