Transportation from CT to piers

I'm sailing on the Miracle 8/7-8/14, family of 4 and I am deciding between driving and parking at a lot by the piers or taking a bus from CT to NY and then taking a taxi (2 taxi's since there are 4 of us with luggage) from there to the piers.

 

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. From CT, the only bus I see making a run from central CT into NY before noon is Bonanza.

 

I've heard parking costs at the lots near the piers are about $20-25 per day.

 

I'm trying to make the front end of the first vacation day as least stressful as possible.

 

Did a RC cruise from NY to Bermuda couple years ago and they included bus transportation from New Haven right to the pier. Nice touch.
