travelpassion Posted November 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2006 Hello! Has anyone gone on the snuba excursion offered in Barbados? Is it great for a non diver? I tried helmet diving (seatreck) in Bermuda two years ago but did not really like it. Thanks for any input:)
hotrodcruiser Posted November 22, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Hi, I have done the snuba experience in Hawaii and Grand Cayman with my son who was about 12 at the time and both were enjoyable. I am a certified scuba diver but he was too young at the time. I felt that the snuba is actually easier scuba because you don't have all that equipment hanging on you. The only equipment you have is weight belt, BC vest, regulator (in your mouth) and a hose about 25 feet long attached to the air supply on a raft that moves around with you. Usually three others are attached to the same raft so it is somewhat restricted on where you can go. We followed each other around in groups that were planned out ahead of time. Visiblity was at least 100 feet so we could see everything including ship wrecks, coral, fish, BIG FISH, etc. It is certainly worth the money. Have fun! 55J5-5 Posted November 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2006 I'm interested in the snuba also. Which company/tour group would you recommend? My family and I could do the snuba at St. Thomas or Aruba also.
