Mini-Suite On Dawn

We're planning on taking the NCL Dawn Cruise to Canada/New England in October 2007. We're looking at booking a Mini-Suite (AF or AG). After looking at the deck plans I found the Mini's are located on deck 11. Deck 12 is where the cafe, the main pool, meeting rooms, etc. are located. On our first Carnival cruise our room was located on the floor under the casino. We heard loud noise, dragging of chairs, etc... all night long. What is the noise level like on Deck 11 in the Mini-Suites? Are the rooms well insulated from noise from Deck 12? Any experiences anyone can share would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have had 3 minis on the Dawn 11500, 11502 (both forward port) and most recently 11610 (directly mid ship port)

I loved both 11500 nd 11502. Very quiet.

I very much disliked 11610 and I would never again book a mid ship mini on the Dawn.

I loved the placement of this cabin, the convenience to the atrium elevators and easy access to wherever I needed to be but the noise was horrible. The chairs moving above me, kids running, the power washing of the deck and even the elevator bell... you hear it all.

Hi Bethany,

I was on the 11/29 sailing of the Dawn in the 11172 mini-suite. I was also concerned about the noise from the deck above prior to sailing (I was under the seating area in the buffet). I found the noise to be minimal. On most nights I went to bed around midnight and did not hear a thing all night long. When I was in the cabin in the evening I heard some noise from walking on formal nights (those in heels) but it was pretty muted. Occasionally I head someone with heavy footsteps but over all it was very muted. I did not hear anything during the day. I would stay there again. The mini-suite was a lovely room.

We were in 11686 right next to the spa. Only thing I heard was a cupboard door that was left open one night and it banged all night long. Never heard anything again.

We were in a Penthouse under the outdoor cafe once and heard chairs all night light. Once I feel asleep I stayed asleep.

We can't have it all I guess. I'll cruise no matter WHAT noise I hear. I would never get a room under the fitness center though!

We were in 11592 midship port side I beleive. We didn't hear a sound. The only noise we had was on the first night with rough seas. The creaking was noisy. Other than that we never heard anything from above. The mini-suite room was great. Lots of room and I loved it. Enjoy it!!

We did the NE/Canada cruise in Sept 2006 and the passengers were much older than on our previous cruises on the Dawn. The ship was deserted by 10:30pm. It was a much quieter cruise. Yoiu should have no problem with noise at night.

Happy Sailing,

Monty

All:

Thank you for posting your experience on the Dawn. We're looking forward to our cruise and we have a better idea of where to book our room. It does help to have passengers share experiences with others. We've never done an NCL before -- we like the idea of freestyle dining -- and have high expectations. We have friends who've cruised on the Dawn and rave about it. This will be our third cruise: we sailed on the Carnival Legend (on this same itinerary) and the Celebrity Summit to Alaska. We're looking forward to experiencing a new cruise line. The mini-suite looks wonderful and we'll pack our ear plugs just in case! Thanks again for all those who posted.

You will LOVE this mini-suite! Your door is all by itself, so you won't run into people. It's quiet and private. We would use the spa all the time, so we'd go out our door, turn right and we were right in the spa! Loved that! There's a juice bar there too and I liked that. Drinks are pricey though - but they are everywhere on ships.

I wouldn't hesitate to book that mini-suite again. Loved it. Carved our names on the wall... just kidding. You'll enjoy it.

I may have photos of it somewhere.
