Laundry Question

Cruising on the Jewel and just realized there is no coin operated laundry (I thought there was one, but was mistaken). So -- since we are taking our one year old and would rather not pack 100 outfits for 6 nights - anybody know the prices for laundering kids clothing? There are prices for mens and women's and when I called RCCL they said I could find out on board what the price is for kids clothing. As this price will affect packing - finding out on the ship is a little late - anyone know the answer:)

I didn't see any separate sheet for kids clothes. Since they are little clothes why don't you just bring a small bottle of laundry detergent and wash the things by hand at night and they will be dry by the morning. I know it is a pain but the regular costs might be steep for such little clothes. Or just buy her/him new little t-shirts in each port. This is what we do for the slob in our house and that is my hubby.:D

HI. I just got back off the Jewel last week. There is no separate prices for kids stuff, but I think the prices are pretty decent if you need a wash done.

Hi stbmom

I've just returned from Freedom and had laundry done onboard.

The prices (in US dollars) on Freedom are:

Shirt/T-Shirt 2.50

Shirt (dress) 3.00

Underwear 1.20

Jeans 3.00

Pajamas 4.00

Handkerchief 0.75

Shorts 2.50

Bathrobe 3.50

Pants (wash) 3.50

Sweatshirt 3.00

Socks (per pair) 1.00

Blouse 3.50

Dress (wash) 5.00

Skirt 3.50

Nightgown 3.00

Swimsuit 2.00

Slip 2.50

Housecoat 3.50

Hosiery 1.00

Slacks 3.50

The above are for laundry, there is a different price list for Dry Cleaning. Press only prices are 50% of the above. Same day service is 50% express service charge added to the above if picked up before 9 am and return by 5 pm same day.

Hope this helps.

The nice thing is that outfits for a one-year old take up a lot less room in your luggage and weigh a lot less than a teen-ager's!

When I was packing my 13 yr old nephew's clothes for our August cruise, I was thinking back to how his little toddler clothes used to fit in the suitcase so easily, and comparing that to how much his jeans weigh now and how much room all his clothes (and shoes  ) take up.

You could pack more tops and just have the bottoms laundered by the ship's facilities. Just an idea that would save a little $$, and also keep you from having to pack as much.

Have a great time! :)

I have been cruising with my two boys since they were little - they are now teenagers and both 6 foot tall. To me, the convenience of not having to worry about making sure I have enough t-shirts, shorts, etc. is more than worth the price of laundry. I just consider that part of the cruise expense now. Especially with the airlines charging for the extra weight. It is also nice to find fresh, pressed clothing on your bed after a day on the islands. I think it is very reasonable for the product.
