Hawkeye75 Posted November 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2006 We paid for tips in advance and I know you get vouchers at the end of the cruise to hand out. I also know that tips are included in the price of drinks. The thing I want to know is are any tips expected DURING the cruise. I'd hate to get bad service because the staff thought I was a lousy tipper since I'm expecting to hand them out at the end.
Sue L Posted November 10, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2006 You do not need to tip during the cruise, but saying that if someone does something extra for you and you don't think you will see them again then you might want to, you don't HAVE to. The only other time we have tipped separately is at Portofino's, which some people do and some people dont Have fun!!!!
Inshape Posted November 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2006 The 20$ surcharge includes the tips. No need to pay again!
swfla Posted November 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 10, 2006 Also, don't forget to tip for room service. I tip considering the amount of food to be delivered but usually about $5 a tray. If its just coffee, a couple of bucks is good. As always, tipping is up to you and the service you get or expect in the future.
takeatrip Posted November 11, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2006 Cash tipping for room service, cash tipping at embarkation for the people who get your luggage for you, and if you wish you can always add an extra dollar or so onto the credit slip for drink service. Rare TPKeller Posted November 11, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 11, 2006 I wonder how many people still give a little tip for room service. I ordered breakfast two or three times on my recent Grandeur cruise, and at least once, the deliverer seemed quite surprised that I offered a couple bucks! It was kind of strange. sbgrace Posted November 11, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2006 If you play table games in the casino, is it customary to tip the dealer? Or only if you're winning... :D I'm not a regular gambler, and was wondering. Chris

Some tip the dealer as they leave the table but more common is to make a bet for the dealer alongside yours. If you were playing blackjack you would put a dollar or two on the edge of the betting circle, and they would win or lose along with you.

No worries, I don't think the servers and cabin attendants know your tipping intentions until the last night of the cruise. We always tips the porters when we are embarking, but don't really need them when we disembark. We always tip a little to room service. We also keep small bills handy for taxi or shuttle drivers, maids at the hotel if we stay pre-cruise and for any incidentals.

I would never have thought of placing a bet for the dealer. Chris
