Freedom--Carrying off your own luggage

I just read in another thread that this is allowed on Freedom beginning at

6:30 a.m. Since we are driving to the port, this sounds very tempting being able to get on the road so early in the morning.

 

Has anyone done this? What has been your experience? Is it difficult rolling off the luggage? We are not exactly light packers... :)

We took our own luggage off the ship in September and I thought it went really smoothly. We were ready to go at 6:30 so that we could be one of the first off and miss the rush. I highly recomend it.

Anyone know if this is allowed on other ships (particularly Navigator)?

We did this on Freedom last month. You have to be out of your staterooms by 8 a.m. though. So we left our luggage in our room, went to breakfast at 7:30, came back and got our stuff. Then we walked right off the ship with maybe only 5 or 7 people in line in front of us. Piece of cake.
