DianeLu Posted July 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2004 I'm in the process of booking a balcony room on the Conquest out of New Orleans. There will be 4 traveling in the room - 2 adults and 2 young children (3 and 5yrs.). The Carnival representative told me he could get me a room on the "Lido" deck - cabin 9274, to be precise. He told me this is an "extended balcony", but for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how it is any larger than the other balconies I see on other decks. Is this "extended" stuff just hype - or is it legit? Also.... the room appears to be right near a bank of elevators and a hallway - is this going to be a very high traffic area? I am concerned with hallway noise, as my 3 yr. old is a light sleeper (as am I!). From looking at available cabins on the bestpricecruises website, I see that there is a balcony cabin on the deck below, "Verandah" , near the front of the ship - rm. 8211. Would this be a better option for us - as far as less traffic and noise? Would that room be the same size balcony-wise as the one on the Lido deck? I don't honestly care if it is one deck lower or not - but I do want a nice room that is relatively quiet where we can enjoy the private balcony when the kids are asleep. Anyone have any input? This is our first "Family cruise" - so I'm really hoping to do it "right"! Thanks in advance! Diane
nzggator Posted July 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2004 From reading previous messages you should not hear no or very little noise from the elevators. By looking on The Conquest deck plans it looks like noise in the hallways should be low at least from where your room is. If you had the room where 9292 is you might hear noise but for your shake no. They will have party's in the day time on the Lido but at night the entertainment is downstairs. Also by looking at the deck plans from the Lido and Verandah the balcony on the Lido looks bigger. Visit http://www.carnival.com/Deck_Plans.aspx?shipCode=CQ for more info Hope this helps enjoy :)
pholter Posted July 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2004 The Lido Deck is very quiet for sure Aft Ship.... As the PP said, most of the noise is on the 5th floor, I believe where the disco, casino, and other clubs are. We couldn't even hear the Calypso Band playing on the Lido Deck from our room. It's very convenient to walk to breakfast or a late night snack though- no waiting for elevators :)
