NYHartChapp Posted November 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2006 Does anyone know if the water will be cool/cold mid January. Also do you get much chance to work on your tan....are you in the shade??? You'll be in a cave (that's why they call it cave tubing). No chance to work on tan, but there will be ample other times in the Caribbean to do that. Have a great cruise.
alaskagirl Posted November 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2006 While we did not go cave tubing while in Belize for Christmas last year we did talk with several people who did. The general attitude was that it was a fun thing to do, not hard or boring. The water is cool as it comes from underground and the caves keep out the sunlight. It is a bit like swimming in a cenote which are places where the limestone cave has collapsed and the underground water is exposed. Again, the water is cool, but crystal clear. Hope this helps. texancruzer Posted November 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2006 We just returned...... water is always cool...... nice after first "dunk" as you will have just finished walking about 30 minutes in a rainforest. Which is why no tan...... walking in rainforest in the shade and then pretty much in the caves on the river....altho at the end you are in the open. tuzick Posted November 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2006 The water is about 70ish; very comfortable. The outside air was a bit chilly the day we went but it was doable. Depends on the weather that day.
crusinpsychRN Posted December 4, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 4, 2006 Just back. Weather was warm, 84 degrees, water cool, especially after working up a sweat walking to the site in the jungle. My 17 y/o son thought the water was cold but we're from Tampa so anyhing less than 78 is cold! We even had a little rain shower while walking!
