HAL is no longer offering diving?

I just got an email from HAL stating " Holland America Line is no longer offering the Certified One-Tank Scuba Diving excursion in Half Moon Cay. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause and have requested a refund to the credit card used for prepayment of this tour. "

 

This is a post from another thread. Does anyone heard about that? What about other islands? We are on 3/31/07 cruise and planning to dive in St. Thomad and Barbados. Are the dives still offered on those islands?

I don't know about the other places, but dh paid for the HMC scuba on our 12/2 Prinsendam cruise, and we got the same email last night. RATS!

I think Half Moon Cay is their private island? If so, it might be because their compressor is broken. I remember signing up for a dive on RCCL's private island and it got cancelled because they couldn't fill the tanks.

Maybe it's because most of Holland America's passangers are too old to dive? From what my parents said, most of their fellow cruisers needed oxygen tanks just to walk around the ship.

I'm surprised they discontinued the one-tank dive at HMC. My husband did the dive in March 06 and thought it was great.......

 

And no - neither one of us needs oxygen tanks or walkers to get around the ship............just mid-50's with no interest in booze cruises.

My guess is that it wasn't cost effective.
