fanofseas Posted July 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2004 The wife and I are going on the victory on 10-10-04 to the bahamas. We will be docked in Nassau overnight.I heard that the shops and casino are closed while in port. I was wondering in the evening onboard while in port do they still have the shows and all dining areas open? In other words do they scale back the entertainment while in port? floridaboyz Posted July 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2004 To answer your question, the casinos and shops do close while in port, but everything else is up and running as normal, i.e. shows, bars, restaurants, spas, etc.
cruisinqt Posted July 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2004 There is always someplace to eat when you get on board. There should be a variety of dining options even before you sail. We always put our swimsuits in our carry ons. That way, if our luggage hasn't arrived yet, we can still hit the pools or jacuzzi's. There should also be music and cocktails available at some of the bars. None of the theatres will have live shows until later in the evening after you set sail. But we usually find a live band playing cool caribbean music by the pool. It's pretty nice to sit and listen to the music by the pool and sip on a cocktail. Or you can go to one of the many bars and lounges and find music, dancing, and cocktails. You won't be board. There's plenty to do on the ship before it sets sail. Just don't miss the ship leaving port. It's a sight to see!
Cruising89143 Posted July 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2004 Not sure if the Victory will be like the Fantasy, but while in port the casino opens up at 7:00 for the evening. We also had entertainment in the main show lounge. The casino deal was something that Carnival struck with the government of the Bahama's for keeping the ship in port overnight. Cotton Posted July 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2004 Crusinqt - Fan was asking about "when in port in the Bahamas", not when in port on embarkation.:D Fan - Yep, the dining rooms, spas, etc. are open while in ports-of-call. I believe the ships gift shops (and usually) the casinos are closed. I guess, according to the above post there are exceptions. From my experience, maybe 10% of passengers don't even get off in the ports. (I've stayed on a few times myself.)
