Jett456 Posted July 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2004 What to do? We are on the 7/26 Legend cruise and I am wondering about the choices of excursions. Virgin Gorda sounds great but I am thinking maybe just the island tour with cane gardens. Is this a beach stay also? Thanks.
Laurab23 Posted July 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We did Virgin Gorda and really loved it. The water was so warm and there were so many fish to see. We never did check out the caves, just stayed at the first beach we came to. Had a great time but the time spent ther was way too short! MoonBaby Posted July 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2004 When I went to Tortola on the Legend, I spent the day at Cane Garden Bay Beach. Tortola is very rural, and if you don't do an excursion or spend the day at the beach, there isn't alot to do. I really loved this beach, much less crowded than Megan's Bay in St. Thomas and just as beautiful!:)
Mikey86 Posted July 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Hi Moonbaby, could you rent snorkeling equipment on Cane Garden Bay Beach? Thanks.
cruise freak Posted July 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We went on a wonderful excursion I booked myself with http://www.patouche.com. There were only 8 of us with two crew members. It was snorkeling at three locations and a wonderful lunch. You even get a discount for booking on their site. Have a great time.
DreadPirateRobert Posted July 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Cane Garden Bay vs Virgin Gorda would be a tough choice. I think CGB is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. (At least the world I can afford to visit) Virgin Gorda was some of the best snorkelinging. Face it, that's a good problem to have.
derf5585 Posted July 19, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We're going to be on Tortola in November from http://messages.cruisecritic.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=927093444&f=339097554&m=2883039876 Tortola is the hub of the British Virgin from http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-585981-tortola_british_virgin_islands_attractions-i
MrPete Posted July 19, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We will be going here next May. Does the ship dock or are you tendered? How close are you to anything?
MoonBaby Posted July 19, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 19, 2004 If I remember correctly, Cane Garden Bay was not good for snorkeling. You can probablly get more info on the Ports of Call board.
luvscruzin Posted July 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2004 We stopped in Tortola 5 years ago and thought it was a beautiful island! We rented an open air "bus" (DH, me, sister and BIL) and the local guide drove us all over the island, giving us some history, describing the different types of plants/trees, took us to CGB (great drinks there also!), etc. It was just a relaxing and fun time, and we had our own personal guide. We stopped once along the road and bought fresh mangos from a woman and her daughters. I enjoyed seeing the way people live on a day to day basis (although sad compared to how well we have it in the US) and seeing the beauty of the island.
