cupidsarrrow Posted November 24, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Not too sure if this has been asked but, why is it if a person books with Carnival for two cruised back to back they do not get a deal for the second cruise. I was just talking to one of my family members and they told me on their first cruise with holand they got offered to do a second cruise for half the price. they got this the night before their cruise was over, on a piece of paper under their door. We booked our cruise and decided to do the next cruise right after that and we had to pay full price for both of them. Does Carnival eventually give out deals for such things? Why do other cruise lines offer this?
yst347 Posted November 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2006 It is simply a matter of supply and demand. Carnival uses various devices to fill empty cabin space last minute. One such program is marketed to residents of states where cruises leave. Many Florida residents who are willing to take a cruise on very short notice take advantage a very sizable discounts. Carnival also offers special pricing on select cruises to past guests who sign up on their website. Generous military rates and reduced single supplements also help keep ships sailing full. You won't be offered a deal on a ship that is already full or near full though for reasons that are obvious. Perhaps this was the situation on the sailing you were looking into? The name of the game is to fill every cabin while getting the most for them that you can. You may or may not be aware but Carnival Corporation owns both Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America so the marketing practices are approved by the same board of directors. If marketing strategies differ between lines it may be that the lines profile dictates one strategy over another for the target market.
